Yeah, be sure and let everyone here on the forum know when you guys get your cars in Japan. I keep waiting to hear for the Japanese RX-8s out cause I figure we're not seeing ours here in America until Japan's are out.

My dealer called me yesterday and said that my car is "in April production" whatever that means.
I go to see him tomorrow to choose what options I want, which should be funny as nobody seems to have solid information on what they are or do! I think I'll probably opt for the 6CD + a baby seat (want to be sure it'll fit so guess Mazda have already solved this!) and leave all the rest.
All I want is a delivery date. 15th is great and was what I was hoping for but I'm guessing I'll miss that.

Well the guy who's getting it on the 15th is a lucky man.
Went to see my dealer yesterday. He didn't have any real information but thought my car might be finished in Hiroshima on 25th April. Then it takes 10 days to get from there to Chiba (East Tokyo depot). In Chiba they install the 6 CD option which I chose (the MP3 player is just a disk player - doesn't have any HDD to rip & store songs which is what I wanted).
I got the invoice for the car yesterday where there is Y137,000 of options I didn't pick (included by default by the dealer)! These include "body coating" (whatever that is), footlamps, and horrible rain visor things on the side windows. I'm going to try to delete as much as possible.
There doesn't appear to be any body cover and I'm being charged Y35,000 for floor mats!
Total price is rounding out at Y4million so I need to save costs anywhere possible!
Saw what the dealer said was Titanium Grey on an Atenza (Mazda 6) but it didn't look that great. I don't think that is the same colour as the RX8 from what I've read here - it was more of a dull dark grey.

It's a baby seat for kids from 0-9 months made by a company called BabySafe (outsourced from Mazda I guess). From what I've read here Mazda USA don't do baby seats due to possible litigation in the event of a crash. The one here is about $200 which is expensive for you guys anyway I suppose. It doesn't look tailored to the RX8 - I just don't want the hassle of treking around shops after I pick up the car. That's all valuable driving time!

I got a call from my dealer yesterday.
I pre-ordered around on Jan/15th though, the production day of my car will be on Apr/28th.
In Japan, there are a lot of national holidays starting from April/29th to May/5th. So, my car probably would come home and be available about in the middle of May

Now, in Japan, dealers deliver the information to each customer on the day when the customer car comes off the production line.

My dealer came around to my house yesterday to apologise for delays in my car. I pre-ordered Dec 8. My car comes off the line in Hiroshima on Apr 24. But then, as Yuhiki points out above, there is the week long Golden Week holiday in Japan. So I'm not going to get the car until mid-May also.
He said if you ordered today you wouldn't get a car until August and they don't even have enough brochures to satisfy demand!
Everything is finalised on the car now though regarding options etc. Even though I don't get the car until next month it's classified as an April car. So I get the registration documents and everything this month!
