Where to buy and install gtech pro?
Im interested in this device which measures performance times for 0-100 and also displays horsepower info. check out the website at http://www.gtechpro.com/prod.html.
Anyone familiar with this product or know any info where i can get it and how much would the cost including installation be.

Someone called for me?
Gtech pro... good to have if you plan to mod with an inclination towards performance. Other wise, no point spending the money to see how much horsepower you gained from that fierce bodykit or two tone paint job with a myriad of brand stickers (Ok, I feel the flame coming... ha ha ha).
If you do want to get it, I strongly recommend getting the RR version which lets you download the data to a computer for detailed analysis and storage. The screen is just too small to display the graphs in a useful scale and the SS version can only record up to a max of 30 runs before you have to delete them because you can't offload them to a computer. The RR also comes with a wall socket power supply so you can use at home but remember that the power supplies are all 110V so you need a step down transformer to use in SG. The RR sells for $299.95 USD but if I remember correctly, Tesla Electronics makes it a bit difficult to order the item from overseas due to "rampant international credit card fraud". They require you to call them, order the product online, fax a copy of your credit card and official photo id. I think it may be cheaper and easier to get it from ebay. For me, I got my US friend to bring over for me when he was visiting.

Do you forsee any difficulties in installation for the device? Actually i just want to record 0-100 times, the horsepower display is useful but not exactly necessary. I also considered the RSM and went to gan motor sports to ask but it seems he is unfamiliar with installing on the rx8. Where did you get yours done and do you recommend any other similar products?

I enquired about the RSM before and it seems most devices (not only the RSM) have difficulty getting proper signals for RPMs and KM/h.
This is also the same problem with some piggyback devices. And Mazda does a even better job at encrypting the signals than other makes.
Correct me if i am wrong (and i do hope so...)

I am unfamiliar with the RSM, so I can only share with you on the products that I know. The installation as easy as a suction cup attachment on the inside of your windshield. It does come with a more permanant screw on stand but I don't think you'd wanna punch screw holes into your dashboard or other places. No problem whatsoever with the installation (extremely easy DIY) except that you might have to "re-suction" the cup attachment once in a while.
Even if you want to record 0-100 times only, I would still recommend the RR. When you get good (or bad) timings, I'm sure you want to know how you managed it. Consistency is more important than a fluke and you need to analyse the run data on the computer before you can see what is good or bad about the run. Just the 0-100 time alone is not worth much.

Sqflyer: Thats why the G-tech come highly recommended as it has it own g-force sensor rather than relying on the ECU. And flunctuations in voltages also affect the accuracy.
Yiksing: So, you heard johnny? Somewhat "representative" of our local car culture. Not sure about brunei though.

Well I don't know much about these mods, however if the RSM sensor requires to be positioned level suggests to me that it might be more accurate. What else does the G-Tech monitor by the way?

I had the RSM before.
Pros, it looks cool with its vaccum display.
Cons, the g-sensor is an external attachment. And i do not think its more accurate as if its slighly unlevel, your readings will not be accurate. Read this from the manual.

My friend installed the RSM in his car, the rpm reading is way off from the stock analogue meter. Some say its more accurate, some say otherwise. I wouldn't be bothered with this type of mod.

BTW, you also have to level the electronic gyros in the Gtech but thankfully the guys at Tesla Electronics developed the auto leveling feature.

I just bought the RR version, and I can tell you that, considering the 300EUR or so that I bought it for, it's probably the best performance meter in the world
I have also had the G-Tech (previous version) and the AC22 (from RaceLogic in UK). I can tell you that, although these were pretty accurate too, the new GTech (SS or RR) is a VERY nice and more importantly a VERY accurate product.
With some mild calibration (to pick up the RPMs correctly, to autolevel the G sensors, and to find the best pitch factor), any measurement that is produced by the GTech is within 1% of the "real" measurement, be it HP from a dyno or timeslip from the track. And bear in mind that the GTech measures "real HP", i.e. HP that you can see on the road, not HP that is measured on a dyno with the car stationary
Installation and use cannot be any simpler, and the PASS software (that comes with the RR version) is very, very nice. Some friends of mine that have bought similar but much more expensive products saw the GTech and the PASS, and they were immediately ready to sent their meters back and ask for a refund

You almost sound like you are selling it.

And about the 1%: this is according to statements and measurements taken by users, not the promo hype of the company. And in anycase, would you prefer a 300$ tool that is within 1% of the "real" numbers, or a 3000$ tool that is within 0,5% ?
