Where to service my 8?
Hello all,
Am new here. Just got my // import 8 AT. Sent it for first 1k service with the agent appointed workshop and I was shocked to see how the mechanic guessing how to remove the decorative engine cover and where the oil drain plug is!
I need serious help, where do I go to service my 8? Apart from the Asia Motors of course. Will they service // imports BTW?
Thanks. It's great to be here seeing so much infomation. Cheers!

There are a few options that you can choose from.
1) Autobacs
Location: bukit batok
They hold rotary engine oil brands like trust, r-magic and HKS
Trust oil (5 litre pack)(viscosity 15W-50)-$138 ( better get it quick cause only 4 cans left)
R-magic (5 litre pack)-$250
HKS (4 litre pack) (viscosity 10W-40)-$135
They also a few sorts of oil filters too and if i am not wrong, if you buy the engine oil and filter from them they will do servicing FOC. That is what i heard from a member.
Filters are in the range of 15 to 30 dollars.
At the moment some members feel more comfortable with trust. (5 litre pack)
The thing is our engine capacity is bout 4 litres and since our engine will consume engine oil after a few weeks of driving the extra 1 litre will come in quite handy when you need to top up.
We did try the trust and later the HKS. The HKS apparently got quite dirty at bout 3 plus to 4K of driving.
(Nobody flame me for this just a review from a few members)
2) GR
Location: tagore lane ( opposite thompson used car centre)
Engine oil available is HKS. (The same as autobacs- no difference whatsoever)
Price is $220 for 4 litres oil, oil filter(simple aftermarket one, not branded) and labour
If car under warranty from them then price is $188

sgrenesis,
Thanks for info. Question : is the oil filter at Autobacs branded or unbranded? Do they also top up all other fluids, consumables as needed? ie like a service package?
BTW all oils get dirty after a few K's. The TRUST oil looked cleaner because it is tinted blue.

actually i'm quite curious to know what's all your views on other servicing workshops. i understand alot of ppl recommend GR but if it's just a normal 5k servicing, is there a difference between GR and other workshops like Huayang's Sportswagen?
cuz if there's not much difference, then normal servicing, i'd rather just take the cheapest one. of coz, i don't deny that if you want something done on the car, then GR is the way to go since they have the expertise. hope you all can advise. thanks.

Actually theres not diff if you are just changing the Oil and filter.
The reason why people go back to the Place where they bought their car is becos . if any thing is wrong with the car they can claim it from the them.
Example. Mineral Oil + Filter Change at Mazda Motor is $98 while it cost $48 at other normal workshop.
Mazda Motor and a history of telling people that they would not warranty the car when some parts are damage on the Mazda car as the owner did all their service outside.
If u bought the car from Mazda motro and have a all the Service done there. They have to warranty the car in case of any problems..
Actually everything are all Negotiable. its just that is more difficult if u do not have a service record with the same workshop.

They have a full service package and the prices are stated at the counter but not sure if purchase of engine oil and oil filter will entitle a full service.
Anybody here to clarify this or willing to try.

The above oils are not 20w-50 as specified in the manual, is it ok?
Cheers!

Oso many things need to be checked on a 'routine' service so the workshop must be familiar with the car.
My 2 cents.

The basic one is what we do at every 5k - normal servicing (HKS RE-Oil + OEM Oil Filter) @ $180
There is another that include NGK Spark Plugs x 4 , HKS Brake fluid , Mazda Oil Filter and HKS RE-Oil @ $400 + (For 25k km service).
I was told of another full package including engine flush and others ...... etc (don't know price)

i recently tried toycar garage at Paya Ubi , they very good and professional will discuss any needs or requirements u want..
Best is they cover everything nicely before do, no dirty the car.
Can try. Look for Benny.
