$100 towards your new RX-8
The kind folk at Mitsubishi will graciously provide you $100 towards the purchase of your RX-8. Just test drive a Mitsubishi within one month of purchasing a car and have the salesman fill out a simple form. If you don't purchase the Mitsubishi (and you better not if you're active in this forum), they will send you $100.
It's not linked to from their main site anymore, but here's the page on their site (found through Google):
http://www.mitsucars.com/MMSA/100Challenge .
The program is from June through August 31st. Make sure you follow all the instructions. Good luck!

But you only have to take a test drive. I don't mind a ride to see what the competition is all about. The two top end models of the Eclipse are somewhat comparably equipped to the RX-8 touring pkg and grand touring pkg. Probably cost more and reliability is an issue that I won't even get into, but for $100 towards my RX-8, I'll be doing a test drive...

EVO makes you wanna say "Ummmmm"?
I just got my Mitsu $100 ticket signed and certified. Maybe you guys are interested in this while we all wait....
Told the guy I was waiting and had 1st dibs on an RX-8.
Tried an Eclipse GT-S. Really lame and borrrrinngg. Second gear, floor it and ... nothing. The nice salesguy said you really want (to try) an EVO if you're considering an RX-8. I said you probably don't want to let people test drive them? He said, well, if you are ready to buy a car, got the $$, no problema. So he brought up a bright red EVO (color of my pre-order), and said "You're gonna like this! Let's go!!"
Wow! First, not as butt ugly as I had thought and seen in pictures. The sculpted sides and big nice red calipers make it look way better than a WRX, nice grill barely not hiding a giant intercooler w/water spray button for the driver when he needs a little extra boost. Only the wild wing put me off some. Interior wasn't to bad either with very nice seats!
But once inside cosmetic complaints vanished as I floored it out of the lot and watched the boost guage pin itself twice until we reached near liftoff speed (60-65mph) in what seemed like about 5 seconds!
The guy took me where I could do that more and faster and WOW! WOW! speed and acceleration are :p ! I said this really is Zoom-Zoom, and he agreed. I asked about reliability and he said service must be by Mitsu, but otherwise have at it.
I did this so I could have a valid comparison when I get to try the RX-8 (someday). But I must say... makes you wanta go "ummmm?" All I can say is I sure hope the RX is what I dreamed it is supposed to be!
Please don't flame me for being honest about what I experienced, I know you are sensitive here what with delays, lack of power complaints, lack of torque questions, etc.

Yeah, the seats are nice, and they have Recaro badges, but you just know that they were built to Mitsubishi's budget, not Recaro's standards.
