11k redline, when do i shift

First of all, congrats on your bike. I had a gixxer 600 that had a redline at 15K RPM, and if your bike is anything like it, it'll probably not have a lot of guts between 3-6K RPM. Shifting anywhere in that range or below is probably going to have your motor bog. I would take it easy without revving the **** out of it until it's broken in. What you want to make sure, as with breaking anything else in, vary your RPMs as much as possible. You can roll up your upper RPMs, but just don't whack it open.

When you get more experienced, work towards getting one of these (my other baby):

thanks, and wow thats beautifull. I had never seen that bike before. I was leaning towards an r6 or a 750 gixxer for when im more experienced, but that looks nice as hell

Thanks. I think she's purty too. Make sure to look around if you decide to look for another bike. Both the R6 and the Gixxer 750 (what's wrong with the Gixxer 600?) are nice bikes. However, after about the first or second year of owning it, you'll find that it's just one out of many out there. With a Ducati, it ages like fine wine and just gets better with time.
