Question 12 V Power Outlet

I'm tryin to install a 12v power outlet into a 94 Jeep and keep blowin fuses left and right, whats the best way to avoid that? And the best place to use as a power source and ground? Have been using fuse box for power and have gone through a few fuses already, including the 40v fuse for car's ignition, twice

Went to an autoparts place and they told me that the metal springs on the charger im pluggin into the outlet are whats causing the fuses to blow, and that i should wrap elecrtrical tape around them and only have the tip of the charger exposed, does that make any sense? Bc i use the same charger in my car and dont have to tape off the prongs

Any help would be very appreciated
