i saw the video last month...it was sad.."Dai san" took it to the salt flats to compete in the k&n challenge... then after like 300 something kilometers an hour the motor blew or something went wrong...he then tried to downshift, he made it to like 3rd gear then the car fishtailed a little bit then lost control...the helicopter finally came and saw him just standing a few feet away from the wreck..he was okay though...but poor car...=(

The physics of a high-speed crash always amaze me... it looks so wierd because he had slowed down so much it looked like he was almost in control, then all hell breaks loose. Nice to see he wasn't hurt.

He did a great job at keeping the car straight for as long as he did. He gracefully downshifted again and again......trying to maintain what little traction he had.
It is amazing to watch. If you don't get ejected from a vehicle....its usually much better if the vehicle rolls to slow it down and expend all of its energy rather then strike something abruptly. In this case....it appeard the vehicle rolled several times from where it left the asphalt to where it landed.
The telephone poles ( Icant remember seeing any) would be a real danger. Other than that...it lookes fairly safe for "non track" racing. Flat desert terrain as far as you can see.
-and...holy crap was that z fast!

FYI Dai san (driver) has been doing top speed runs for many years and still alive. Amazing, oh also he is the owner of Option magazine.
