2006 Mustang GT vs. 2006 EVO
Ok, I've searched for this post, and never found it, so I'm pretty sure its not a repost. I was wondering what you guys think when comparing these two performance cars. IMO, the Mustang looks a lot better, and I know the EVO will outhandle the stang easily. Other than that, what do you guys think and which would you prefer between these two?

They are completely different animals. I am not sure that they even appeal to the same person. Obviously any gear head is going to like both for their strengths as a performance automobiles....but the people shopping for either one probably don't have the other on their list.
Personal opinion, need to have both. Obviously the Mustang is not a winter car, and the EVO is with the proper tires. Both are reasonably cheap to mod and get huge amounts of power. Both can be modded for the track and do quite well. The EVO can transport 4 adults more comfortibly (space not ride quality) and the Mustang has the 'cool' factor.
If I had to have one....I would choose the Mustang. I'm an American.....at the heart of every American is a red-blooded V8. I don't care who you are....you cannot say that an EVO sounds better than a Mustang V8.........if we are sitting in a Mustang together and I rev that 4.6L 3V (with a Flowmaster exhaust).....you are going to smile. It is a fact of life.

Ditto. Pickup the suspension package, a cat-back (both available from Ford Motorsports), and the Saleen S/C. The keeps the full factory warranty and now has 400hp and handles much better.
If you want an EVO, wait until the EvoX comes out.

I second the EVO 10 have you seen the pics WOW. As for the mustand I am typically a japanese car person but put the saleen kit on it and it just looks outright sick. There are so totally different beasts/personalities...depends on your needs and intentions

That is a sweet car.....no doubt. But I would still take a Mustang GT, add a S/C and suspension kit and still be cheaper than the EVO X. Plus, I kinda doubt the next gen EVO will look like that exactly. Sweet car none the less.

Dude, it's got three intakes on the hood, that's like...like...I don't even know what that's like.
Seriously, I'd take the EVO, just because where I live, seems every other car is a Mustang. I do agree with bascho about the sound of a V8 though.

I have to admitt.....the more I stare at the photo, the more I like the car. But that is the problem, everyone falls in love with this sweet looking concept.....and then the production version comes out and everyone is like 'FU Mitsu'

I love the sound of the V8..we agree on that, I'd grab the mustang is a second if I could get the Saleen package with the S/C (saw one a few months back..OMG!! pure sexiness).. but unless that was the case I'd pass.. mustangs are just too common around here.. and the interior is terrible! hate the retro thing.. and I love the performance aspect of the EVO but the interior again is terrible.. if the EVO IX has a decent interior and looks anything like the pic posted.. that would be the way to go!

The Saleen Extreme is the F*'n sick and my favorite....but then again, for $60K, it better be.

Oh but back to the thread topic.... I'd go with the Mustang even though it's already common because of the V8 TQ and sound. Not to mention the fact that the EVO is just plain ugly while the new Mustang looks great.

That ZO6 is a beast!!

They really can't be compared. I mean, honestly, when was the last time you pictured a Mustang when these words come to mind:" AWD, Rally, Sedan, 4.7 0-60 etc.
The most you can say is that Evo has speed and handling, while mustang has ride and comfort.

I see a freaking Evo AT LEAST once a day everyday. I've seen 1 new Mustang GT. So does that mean I should take a Mustang GT?
Buying a car based on how many or how few you see on the road is just stupid.

Rousch is a freaking rip off. And I HOPE you go next door and tell them that. Only posers would waste their money on it. As you said... you have to get the really expensive stage II (WEAK!!!) or stage III kit (finally some power) to actually get a performance increase. The standard stage I you'll find at Ford dealers is only looks... a bodykit, rims, interior and maybe suspension. no go.
Saleen... that's just expensive. Well done and fast, but talk about sticker shock. Best deal... get a GT and Ford motorsports suspension kit and short shifter. If you have a bigger budget or want to seriously track the car... get coilovers (Saleen kit, Steeda kit, Rousch kit). Get your choice of full exhaust system. Pickup the Saleen S/C to keep factory warranty... or if you don't care... get the Kenne Bell kit with intercooler. Add rims and sticky tires... that baby will seriously kick ***. If looks bother you that much... pickup one of the MANY bodykits on the market... all are urethane... no fiberglass in the Mustang market. All the mods minus bodykit will only run you about $7k-10k good for 400-520hp.
