2007 Camaro

Got a hint of the return of the FBody from a friend at work so I decided to do some investigating on google. This is what I came up with. I think it is a pretty hot number. What do you think?

looks pretty hot. Most of those are photoshops I saw in a "bring back the fbody" article for some hot rod magazine. The top one is new though, and I think it looks great.

The term for my 8 will be up in 07 and due for purchase or returned, if the Camaro is released by then I will have to look at this option VERY closely.

Now THAT is a camaro!
I really couldnt stand the last generation of camaro.. hell.. i didnt like the one before that one either! They just didnt do the classic justice.

Now.. Who wants to take bets on the return of a 6.6 liter firebird/trans am? (well, maybe not, but that'd be sweet).

I've seen these pics before along with the "so called charger" before it came out and now look at the charger! Its a 4 door ugly looking peice of crap! If the SS comes out, it will look nothing like that! Those designs are from a guy who does these designs for fun.

Heres a little something:

"PHR commissioned computer artist and animator Kris Horton to smooth out Pauwel's drawing. Horton added color, put realistic wheels and tires on and modeled it in diffuse natural light. The resemblance to the Opel Insignia is striking."

Not going to happen. GM no longer has a car based rwd platform to develop it on as they cancled all of them and accelerated production on their truck platforms to get those out the door by this January. The zeta of the GTO is from Holden and GM has no intention of proliferating it to its other divisions anytime soon. If there is a new Camaro, you will have to wait at least another 3 years.

^ What about the corvette platform? Forgive my ignorance if this is a dumb question.

i don't think it will end up looking much like any of those models...just from the text in the article...

"That means for the most part that retro is out, which is good for Bob Lutz, who dislikes such design to begin with."

gm very much has car based rwd platforms. the vette is one. as is the cadi cts & xlr. and don't forget about the pontiac solstic/saturn sky. all of these are rwd based cars.

that's called platforming. it's been used for years to help keep production costs down.

and those are all artist renditions, and not necessarily the design for the car.

Me likes it!

First Ford re-does the Mustang in the late 60's styling...
I guess its only natural that GM gets on the band wagon and copies the Fbody.
Mazda will probably follow suit and make an RX~9 that looks like a RX~2...

It could happen...

Some of those concept shots remind me of the '69 Camaro's lines.

yeah I know that... I just didnt think they would use the same platform within the same make for similar use (yet differently priced) cars

I just hope it's not a fat pig and it looks like the renderings.
I doubt it on both accounts though.

Between the persistent Camaro and Supra rumors, and to a lesser extent the RX7 rumors, I don't know what to wait for in the coming years.

It would be nice to have choices like the new Supra and Camaro in addition to the Mustang GT, 350Z, Mazdaspeed 8, Evo, etc.

Dumb Question

1) The BG factory that makes corvettes is at capacity.
2) Two cars use that platform - the $45-60 grand Vette and the $75? grand XLR. They would need to make a lot of changes to cheapen it up to get it to aronud the mustangs $20-30 grand.
3) It would **** off the Corvette nuts who shell out $50+ every couple of years for the next best vette.
4) It would be a very very cramped 2+2

Thats what i was trying to say...... I suck at explaining: :D

80G vette, 40G Camaro... same platform???? the fact that they are both Chevy's just adds blatent insult to injury....no way... maybe you could get away with that across makes, but even then....
