Well, i dont think it will "kick so much ***"(maybe once aftermarket support arises), but i agree that it looks to be a very promising platform. Really like the fact they offer the Turbo 4 and V6 versions to choose from as well as the large number or packages. Thats really great for people who could care less about bells and whistles and want to focus on completely customizing the car from the bare basics on up.
...as far as it "smoking" the 8, or any other car for that matter, I will wait to see some official testing
Also, i am hoping to see Hyundai really devote time and $ in integrating this car into popular Motorsports. If they do so successfully, it will really help the car as well as add some more excitement to the events.

no matter how hard i try to like the look of this car. the front still fails me. but i think its very cool that hyundai is coming out with some thing competive against the japanese car companies and rwd.

its an awesome hyundai. i loved looking at the hks version as well. looks very promising and giving the infiinti g coupe and 370 a run for its money now. i'll have to test drive one to see if its worth it. im excited for it... may think about trading in the 8... though i'll be tempted to take out the g on genesis and put a R for the memories :D

Hyndai is pretty smart to release the a 20 K rwd car. they have no one here in the US to compete for a while. and that is where Nissan, toyota made their mistakes (in US that is) .
Ever since the 86 AE, there has not been a FR levin or trueno. all of the AE 101 and 111 where FF. Nissan only releases a 20k rwd in japan and other nations but not the US . If i was nissan i would release a the s15 here in the US. No one would know that the car was made back in 1999 (except the car fans) and if they did, the design it self still loooks modern enough .
Or just make a S16 taht is available in the US also.
Even though i dont care for the new tibby, i must say good job Hyndai at beating the japanese at their own game. maybe this will wake them up and let them know that not every one wants a 20k FF car. and that they should go back to making affordable FR cars.
because there is going to be alot of kids who be buying these up, especially the turbo 4 model.

This is their first attempt at this platform... expect issues. Being a prior owner of their next gen tib, i know first hand how BAD Hyundai does on their first attempt at new platform vehicles. the `03 V6 was rife with problems... especially the transmission.
Was a fun car to own and was my first car i actually "modded" on. But i do not believe i will ever own a hyundai again. Just remember, you can gold plate dog **** to make it look shiney but underneath that shiney metal... well... it's still dog ****.

Just got back from the Chicago Auto Show. I sat in a Genesis Coupe and I'm very impressed.
This isn't your kid brother's Hyundai. The seats feel good, the interior fit and finish is good (not quite VW but better than most entry-mid domestics at least on-par with Nissan), very good looking in-person.
I will probably be looking at a 3.8 Track after the bugs are shaken out of the first model year.

Oh come off the comments about the interior. It's not going to be phenomenal, but then it's also not going to be put to shame by its direct competition.
Nothing in this price range/class (370Z, RX-8, Genesis, Evo, WRX, etc.) has what can be called a world-class interior in terms of design, material quality, or fit/finish.
They're all about the same.
