alfy28, it's plain to see the Genesis has some flies in the Koolaide...but what's new?? The RX-8 has had how many reflashes? ...how many tsbs? The Hyundai is just out of the gate and they can fix things along the way as others have, no loss of cred for doing that...time will tell of course, but they haven't had any opportunity yet.

The G37 and 370Z aren't immune from flies either... and Nissan has had literally years to get that powertrain right... but they unbelievably have not!

Current buzz on their boards (and noted in that latest 370Z R & T test) is about how both the new 370Z (and obstenibly the G37) both suffer from almost immediate overheating under load. Ten minutes or 4 laps on a test track seems to be all the engine can handle before the ECU snaps into limp mode as the oil temp exceeds like 245 degrees! No Nissan fix or even acknowledgement in sight from this "premium" car maker. What's up with that?

Here's what's up... the cars they gave C&D and others for testing to put in their mags had both differential coolers and engine oil coolers...but guess what ... you can't buy them from Nissan!

So if you like to actually use your fancy sports car from Nissan or Infinity....say take it to the track....guess you're outa luck....the extra .5 sec will get you squat 'cause you'll not finiish one 20 min session

Sure sounds like I'm bashing these guys doesn't it? IMO they deserve it for underengineering this powerplant to this extent. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Quality engineering plays a part too.

Hyundai advantage for an 8/10 drive past 10 min or 4 laps

for starters, dotn get upset (jking btw) i didnt post the link. i just posted a few quotes from the article. also i know they will have reflashes. 2. like i said earlier, i dotn care for the car , but i do like the direction that hyundai is taking. also i am pretty sure their will be lots of aftermarket for this car.

No worry, not upset in the least alfy lol. Just wanted to point out everyone has warts. You pointed out only Hyundai's from that story, I added some anecdotal warts of Nissan's.

I don't own either now, and likely won't...it's purely vicarious . In this economy all I'm able to do anyway is window shop, so it's just some fun (and cheap!!) forum chat.

Pick some cars to watch, follow them, learn and post like you could own em

An inexpensive RWD nice-looking sports coupe with great aftermarket support may attract a lot of pencild*cks that push up insurance rates.

What's up with that 3 second limbo program? Perhaps the cars need it to soften blows to their best-in-industry warranty.

I bet nissan has a cooling option for the 2010 model year, the g37 began with complaint about cooling, now with the 370z having the same issue on an even more dominant 'track' car it would be foolish not to nip the issue in the bud immediately

love.....300+ hp from a factory internal motor...for what looks like very little in add on parts. and hks is still testing the boundaries.

then again, it is the SAME block that is in the EVO X and the SRT4 caliber so i would hope it could hold some power.

I like the 2.0T but I really like the V6, it sounds nice. Add some headers, high flow cat, cat-back, and a filter and enjoy

so yeah, i just got back from the hyundai dealership, decided to see what the hoot is all about. The car looks alot better in person, almost like a G-coupe.
The only thing I didnt like was how small the wheel wells in front are, looks like 8 inch maybe 9 is all you could fit in front. but the rear wells, sittin on a 5 link setup look like they could take 10 easily. so i dont think hyundai planned for turns.

the model they had was the v6 fully loaded for 30g....yet even on an 2010 car there is no telescoping wheel. I am 6'5" so this is kinda important to me.

The interior quality on the other hand was amazing, the leather is right on par with lexus and the BMW doesnt even come close (unless its a 7 series)
Personally I dig it, its a lot more tame in appearance than the RX-8 which is a down turn for me, and I can see a mile away that it wont be able to turn as well (struts up front) but I think if someone wanted a straight line bit of fun, thats where its at.

the guy said they are getting the 2.0T in shortly and will give me a call so i can get a feel for it. I am curious to see how the koreans 6 speed measures up to mazdas. I highly doubt its going to have that little *snick* *snick* bolt action like we do.

on the positive side of things, the v6 did still have a ton of room to work with in there, so i can see in the forseeable future someone strapping turbos in there. and the 2.0T looks to be about the same as a 240sx in terms of engine bay work space.

I suggest you guys just go out there and take a look at them, interesting car to see from a company that 15 years ago had a pretty bad joke run on them in the industry.

"how do you double the value of a hyundai? fill the tank"...... not anymore scooter

Very honest and unhyped reviews. That show where all the cost cutting went.

that was a very good find. its pretty cool that he wasnt biased because the car is from his country. he didnt seem to thrilled by the cars though. but any how, awesome find alien. and he is right the turbo one is probably the ones that ppl will buy due to simple mods.

The 3 second cut out would bother me if I was an owner. Hopefully it can be deleted with some future PCM update.

There is a Hyundai dealership not to far from me and I noticed tonight they had the coupe in the showroom. Think I will check it out tomorrow to check out the interior and the front end in person.

On C&D Hyundai execs were sayin that the turbo model has a pretty friendly PCM, not really sure about the 3.8 model however.

Hyundai makes pretty junk.

Those videos are testament of what is going to happen to a bunch of owners when they get there Genesis coupe. Transmissions failing like that, shame on Hyundai!

Just joking, all manufactures are plauged with some kind of quirks or problems. But in all honesty I hope Hyundai addresses that issue before somebody gets hurt of killed in one of there vehicles.

From that video , seems like both cars seem to perform only marginal. What raised my brow was when the tester said he didn't feel safe at high speed.... Also seem like the car only did marginal on turns too. Sounds a little like the Mustang if you ask me....

What Hyundai forums have said about these vids is (predictably - and take your pic of reasons)

1) they are done by a SK yahoo who disses anything Hyundai anyway
2) Coupe specs in SK are different and are not comparable to to US/world spec
3) SKs like soft cars and so... #2
4) he complains but what is he comparing to?...unknown...
5) he had a car w/use and some problems

My take: he's one data point, in another country, with much lost in transaltion, I have no history for him and reviews to compare his bitching against. Time will tell all as it always does.

I guess they figure since he isn't from America, his review is not gospel. What they have to realize is that there are other non biased reviewers on this blue and green rock called earth.

What the SK tester stated, bad translation or not is probally going to be the norm for both turbo and V6 Genesis cars. I am sure world wide critics will pick up these faults as well.

The Genesis forums just don't want to hear sour grapes about there new SK Mustang, oh...um..i meen SK sports car the Genesis.
