It's going to be tough for them to lose that image, but then again...*Looks at Rotary Engine..*

I just envision a whole interior made of cheap plastic, ball joints that blow out after 3 or 4 hard corners, struts that break in half after 2 pot holes. You know, kind of like a saturn, or a hyundai.

Please note the 8 is 6 years old, I would like to see these cars in 6 years and how they are holding up.

I'd really wish someone would start a thread just dedicated to bitching about the 8, and no other bitching in any other thread would be tolerated. Everyone knows the 8 is underpowered with bad MPG. I BOUGHT my 8 for it's looks, handling, and just overall coolness factor KNOWING about underpower and bad gas mileage. I do not race (yet), or street race, like to travel with my 2 year old daughter, carry up to 3 female passengers, and am secure in my masculinity so I do not need to 'blast' the SRT-4 next to me.

But yes, Mazda does need to step up to the plate and at least improve MPG and lower their price a bit. That is all I think is needed. They do not need to compete with the 370's of the world.
Agreed. I think with the 8, you are paying a premium to have the rotary engine, torqueless and gas guzzling as it may be. Im sure getting built by hand has something to do with it, but all else considered, I do feel the 8 is a bit overpriced lower the base by a couple thousand and go from there. They'd probably sell a lot more of them. That would put an r3 around 30K which seems about right, considering dealers have to practically "give" 8s away to get rid of them already - even '09s.

Hyundai is ranked #5 in the world in terms of sales selling over 3 million cars a year (thats more than Honda, Nissan and yes Mazda). By now people would've realized if their cars were shitty or not and stop buying from them. But their market share is only growing.

I still dont understand where people get the notion that Hyundai is a "small" car company.

and plus cars are not cheap, you have to really get what will last till you get tired of it, i think its like 10 years till the car is shot after everyday driving, most cars will last 4 to 5 years only, but if you spend 27k and up you will get a semi good car

Yeah. I read that too.
I haven't driven the Genesis Coupe yet, but I'm raising an eyebrow a la O'RLY?

Tires? Track layout? Track surface? Alignment? Driving style?

Hell, you can make a course that favors a 350z over RX-8 but that doesn't mean that the 350z is faster autocrosser overall.

Feh. Disclaiming that you were pampered doesn't automagically remove the suspicion of bias.

It just sounds fishy when you have a car with a wheelbase that is too long and weight distribution that is not 50/50.

the wheel base is 5 inches longer than ours, and the weight dist is 55/45. Not exactly major. Its a newer chassis, newer steering column, etc, very well engineered.

almost every review I have read says it understeers way too much in the V6 trim. Not as much in the turbo but still it understeers. It is nose heavy.

Any car that is not exactly 50/50 weight distribution, having more weight on the front, is by definition "nose heavy". This includes the RX-8 and many many other sporty and sports cars.

Understeer on the other hand is a handling characteristic that in engineered into a car's suspension and is not specifically related to front/rear weight bias. The more recent Porsche 911s have been characterized as having 'understeer' as an example and they are far from nose heavy.

Most cars have understeer due to safety consideration for normal people driving on normal roads. Trying to tie "nose heavy' and 'understeer' and infer that Hyundai has somehow made a deficient car is not a correct conclusion.

Moreover, comments about understeer have been related to track testing behavior and not road manners.

I know they are 2 different things. That is why I put it in 2 different sentences. Just going by reviews here they have pointed out the V6 feels nose heavy.

And the RX8 does not feel nose heavy at all, it is not nose heavy period.

I wanted a 2010 Genesis Coupe til I sat in the back seat. The RX8 has wayyy more room. (if that's important to you)

One would figure that the Genesis coupe would have enough room in the back because the wheelbase is plenty long 111" vs. Rx-8 106.4". Length 182.3" vs 175.6"

55/45 f/r of the Genesis V6 compares with the 52/48 of the Rx-8.
Plus you just have to put 245's on the front of the Genesis.
