2010 Mazdaspeed 3 - Smiley Creature After All?

I think if the grin was the vehicle color, it would be okay. Black on black looks fine, but the lighter colors contrast it too much.
I do like the wheels. I don't really like the alarm-clock wheels my MS3 has. But cosmetic mods will be last on my list of changes.

It's there for the TMIC. Thanks for clarifying the "push release" for the hatch, that's actually kinda neat. I had my doubts about it being a back up camera. I've seen the regular 3 on the road -both the hatch and sedan- and they actually look better than in pics.

All wheel version is really required.
DSport magazine ran some cars in that class on a dyno - most came out around their advertised hp, but the MSpeed3 (advertised as 263hp) dyno'ed at 286!!
280 hp at the front wheels could be a handling problem.....

At the very least, I'd like to see the gen-3 have the Revo-Knuckle from the Focus RS. The 2.5L turbo would be nice too. Of course we'll have to wait 5 years to see...
I have a feeling we have a better chance of seeing that combo than AWD, especially since Mazda is already in bed with Ford.

Well, they did make the Mazdaspeed6 AWD so I guess the market kinda leaves the Mazdaspeed3 to be a FWD. I think overall it looks nice and its one hell of a get up and go kind of car. I wouldn't mind having one of those

Weight, cost... Just check out the Ford Focus RS, they ruled out AWD for a reason because they were able to get the same if not better results at a lighter weight and cheaper price. THen again, it has the Revo-Knuckle suspension to deal with the enormous power. The MS3 does have suspension and drivetrain tricks to limit torque steer though, but not as advanced as the RS' revo-knuckle. I'm sure Mazda knows what they're doing.

+1 for the AWD. Drove my buddies modded MS3 last weekend and damn that thing is fast......as long your going strait. He is getting 300-310 WHP and you can spin them easily just by rolling to full throttle in second. AWD wouold be nice.

or you can see it very clearly at the mini-site for the 2010 ms3

You can't put AWD on the MS3!!!
What are the youtube racers gonna do if the AWD hinder their ability to race from a roll?!?!
In all seriousness, Mazda is fine with the way it is.
Why put the MS3 in the same segment as the Evo and STi's when it's doing fine leading the sports compact segment?

Everyone always asks for somethingmore, "turbo the rx8", "awd the MS3", if it didn't come with it from the start it will not acquire it from mazda in the future.

It will never be able to put all of the power down as well as we all think it should, and will probably continue to have horrid torque steer and you'll have to rotate your tires every other fill up just to keep the tire wear even BUT they do have the market completely locked with the most powerful hatch back out there. Most people love to talk about horsepower. . . as 8 owners, were try to stay away from that number and talk about handling, which is what's happening in this thread.

the tires are 225 45 18.
i drove the 2010 on saturday. it is very, very nice. also drove the 09.
if they took the gt seats from the 09 in the 10 it would have sold.. oh, wait. the one i drove was that blue from hell.
the inside of the 10 is much nicer than the 09. the motor and tranny feel the same, though the tranny gears have been changed for the 10.
the outside, well that is so individual.. the 10 us growing on me.

I never regretted not having awd. I put down 320hp to the wheels, just have to upgrade tires and motormount, and get the driver mod. I'm not a big fan of racing from a stop unless im in my Chevelle SS. On a roll there wasn't many cars that could beat me in my speed3 unless they were seriously built.
