good thread. i don't have time to read it all right now so i'm sorry if someone already said this...but not a really fair comparison. should be is250 vs 328 OR is350 vs 335. maybe you're doing this for price reasons (i don't know what the is goes for), but the is250 and 335 are too different regarding engine and performance. if you're interested in an is250, there's no reason you should pay for and get a 335...the 328 will have all the same stuff just less hp and less dinero.

anyway...i love the 335, but it's pretty common where i am, so the look of the -is- is refreshing to me. they did a GREAT job from the last gen -is- to this one!! so overall i think bmw is a winner everytime over lexus, but maybe for something different, or maybe you'll dig the interior a bit better on the lexus...or if you get a better deal, etc. but just for overall driving, performance go bmw.

edit: i read a little more that before if he's going used and found an is250 and a 335 with similar mileage and similar price, the 335 is the easy choice! if the 250 was cheaper (and it should be!!) that the price difference would factor in, otherwise 335 all the way!

Lexus doesn't offer the free maintenance thing do they?

BMW does as a standard right? No worry about oil changes, rotors, pads, etc....

Yups, exactly why i'd take the 335i.

Maintenance, do a reflash or whatevers, and basic exhaust mods. You can get gobs of power and easy to go back to stock for warranty purposes.

hey 2tone actually the price difference between used 335s and 328s at least where i am is around 2k and its the same between the 250 and 350 and actually a 335 and 350 same milage (less options on the 350) the 335 costs about 1k less plus you wont have to pay for the extended warranty AND the 335 is a year newer that just makes it a no brainer to me ... and the is is a little bit of a chick car if you ask me

wow, that's surprising!! awesome though! definitely agree with you. is is nice, but it's a "get my wife and is" kinda car, not a driver's car. i really like the redesign, but overall lexus/toyota doesn't move me much. 335 ftw!!

Lexus pre-paid maintenance nearly doubles your lease/ownership payment.
Surprisingly a lot of people have it.

I would still go with the 335, but I have to say washing/waxing the IS is a breeze given its large integrally-smooth body panels.

the 335i does not have a oil dipstick that is visible in the engine bay. You will be unable to check your oil level.haha

Ironic since our dipsticks are freaking a pain to get to, so not too much difference. haha
