^ anything with 700hp will slay any 'stock' car......except for the Veyron which has 1000hp stock. I could build a 1985 Mustang for $30K that would be a Ferrari slayer......it doesn't mean anything. If someone were handing out keys for this 700hp STI or a Ferrari......who is going to choose the Subaru?......seriously.

But the difference is that the sti is only a 4 banger that pushes out 700 horses. Thats why I said it was sick.

But then they are not handing out keys, the STi will go for maybe 40k whereas the ferrari 1-200k?

Just found it impressive that it was pushing 700hp.

It's definitely impressive......no doubt about it. I am more suprised that the drivetrain can handle the power moreso then the 700hp they pulled from the 4-cyl.

The stock drivetrain is rather stout, though I'm sure there have been some upgrades and/or will need to be.

Well I know the owner. Great guy.

The car is as perfect as you can get. If I had known he was selling it when I bought the 8 I would own it right now.

RX-8s look great I admit but 700hp is just madness, what 0-60 in 3 seconds? Read a bit more of the parts, what is the methane thing anyone know? So this wouldn't even run on 93 octane perhaps?

It's methanol injection which is a pretty inexpensive and fairly common mod in FI cars. It allows you to up the boost to levels that would otherwise be impossible without detonation, think of it as chemical intercooling.

If you're impressed by this car you shoudl see some of the Evos out there, they're starting to break 900whp with no nitrous.

It's definitely impressive to get that much power out of small engines but a couple of phrases come to mind. This is no different than with any other high horsepower small engine. One of them is "dyno queen" as the powerband looks like a highly modded Supra's and the other phrase is "turbo lag". The nice thing though is that when the power does kick in, it's on all 4 wheels. I'll bet that's a pretty quick car. Ferrari slayer isn't that much to brag about though as that isn't hard to do. There are lots of cars that can lay claim to that title and not all of them expensive or heavily modified. It can be done with ANY car with a little work and not necessarily alot of money if you know what you're doing. Not taking anything away from this car. It looks like alot of nice work went into it.

I don't know about this STI in particular, but the 800+ whp AMS cars are anything but dyno queens. Their 826whp shop car competed in One Lap of America, won many drag events, and still sees some street duty. If it was just a dyno queen they would slap nitrous on their already outrageous setup, tune it to within an inch of its life, and be done with it. The one they just made over 900whp with is a for a customer from FL., he uses his car regularly on the streets, he could care less about what it makes to the wheels or what it runs at the track, he just wants to blow peoples doors off on the streets.

So would this run on pump gas or would you have to add a boost of some kind? I think I'd be happy enough with 350 to the wheels.

I think moding a WRX wagon or an A3 might be funnier. Look on a vette owners face when you dust them in a wagon would be priceless.
