8 is out, MS6 is in....
Well I know i dont have the highest post count, but i have been a member of this board for quite some time. I just traded in my 04 RX-8 today and am now in a 2006 mazdaseed 6 GT. I was in a bit of an accident a few weeks ago (no injuries thankfully), my 8 was rear ended fairly hard on the highway out here in Pittsburgh. It wasn't totalled, but there was a significant amount of damage. Instead of getting it fixed i just traded it in as is, grabbed myself some s-plan pricing and put the ins money towards the speed 6. i'm really happy with the new ride, i'm still holding onto the performance, but the addition of AWD, and the practicality of a true sedan will work out much better for me. I have some almost new (roughly 6000 miles of wear) TSW Thruxton 18x8 wheels wrapped in BFG KDW2 225/45 18 Y rated rubber. I had my snow tires on the stock wheels during the wreck, and thats what was traded so i will be putting those up under the parts section and on eBay, asking $250 a piece but serious offers will be entertained. PM if you are interested
Good luck to all of you, and all of your 8's, i hope they fair better than mine. I will be stopping back on occasion to mill around and see whats new like i have been for the past few years.
Take Care.

The 'credit card' key is really cool...i'm like a little kid playing with it...showing off that i can get in the car and start it up without using a key...lol
I didnt really notice that much of a turbo lag...but i am going to be easy on the car for the first few hundred miles. So we shall see

Yeah, they should fit...but would need tested. I just want to get out of the tire swapping, get some all seasons on the MS6 and be done with it. Step one is testing the market on these wheels.

I would really like to know if you notice any heatsoak issues. I have heard enough stories that make me wary of purchasing a MS6 right now. It may be hard to notice since you are in Pitt., but this Spring/Summer should be able to tell.

Is the key fob like the Toyota Avalon where it unlocks the car as you walk up without touching a button?
Do you notice the extra weight that the 6 has?
How is cornering compared to the 8?

The handling is very tight, i havent really had a chance to open it up too much (i've only put 10 miles on so far) but i dont think that i will be noticing any disapointing differences. It def doesnt feel like a dumpy sedan, and the power is a very big difference. It just a different car all together, i will miss the 8 on a few days, but i think this will end up being a better car for me.
The key does require you to touch a button, there is a tiny button on the driver and passenger door handles. If the key is on your person you just touch that button and it opens up. There is also just a little nub that you turn to start the car, no push button. when you get out, shut the door, push the lil button and its locked. if the key is ~10 feet it won't open

i didnt answer about the shifting....
1st gear seems to be a bit touchy, but that could just be me getting used to the new clutch. It really doesnt feel that far off of the 8, the shifter isnt quite as short, but it is still very smooth
reverse is on the left though, that will be tough for the first week...

Well i finally did get some pics if anyone is interested. The MS6 is treating me very well. It is almost as fun to drive as the 8...and all of the extra features I got in the GT MS6 over my base manual 8 are really, really nice. Anyway, here it is:

Very nice...
I like the huge hood bulge and aggressive styling all together. A very aggressive update compared to the regular 6. I just read a couple of magazine tests of this car and it made me want one. Car and Driver recorded 0-60 in 5.4 secs w/ a quarter mile in 14 sec flat - thats quick.
Bring us some more feedback as you rack up some more miles.

There is a road and track 'speed' mag test coming out with the A4 2.0 quattro, Subaru Legacy GT, and Speed6. Even though they said the mazda lacked some interior luxury, it ran away with the title with perfect scores in the fun to drive category. they got 6.0 seconds flat on the 0-60.
I'm approaching 400 miles already. i turned it loose a few times, much more power and pull than the 8 and it really feels close to the 8 in handling. You can feel the AWD kick in when you come out of a corner and off of a start. I'd recommend a test drive to anyone in the market for a real 4seater while trying to hang on to the performance...this car is great

Ready for mods? One JDM magazine got good results from just a cat-back and again when they added a boost controller...
Appearance wise... I like this... minus the spoiler.
