the 8's gone, what to get?
well the 8 has been gonna for about two months now and i'm still undecided on what to get. I need a new toy to soup up. something that's more of a toy than a daily driver. i had the 8 for 2 years and only put 15k miles on it since it was new. here's some of the cars i was looking at.
gto: if i was to get one it would be the ls2 model, but i own a t/a ws6 and i hate that thing. i have learned though that gm has upped the quality of their cars since then. so 400hp... but is that the only good thing about it?
evo: they're easy to build, fast, and light weight. but i also hear that they fall apart quite easily.
m3: it's a m3! fast but expensive and i'm sure they hold their valuve so a used one is probably up there in price too.
if there's anyother cool cars out there that i might not have mentioned then tell me. I'm looking to spend around 35k no more (less would be better).

I just traded my 8 in for an STi. I couldn't be happier. It has the handling, the power, and can be easily modded.
Here's my thread with some pics

I got mine, brand new 07, w/ short throw shifter, sub/amp for $32800

M3s have a fairly small aftermarket and the parts are very expensive. Also, if we're just talking fun factor an Evo is the better choice stock for stock. If you want something to mod and tinker with it doesn't get much better than the Evo. The STI is a good choice as well but the engine isn't as strong and they're not quite as mod friendly.

YES, The 335i with the Vishnu system would keep up if not surpass the E46, the mod would only cost 2.6K. Though you can wait a few months and get the smaller and lighter 135i and add the same Vishnu system. Since both cars carry the same power train I'm sure it will be available for the 135i. So for around 32K you can have a BMW that does 0-60 in under 5 sec. Since most mags have gotten the 335i to 60 in 4.9 sec which is just .1 slower then the E46 M3 I would imagine that a lighter 135i with the same power train would do it well under 5 sec. Now think how the extra 60-80 HP from the Vishnu would make that 135i perform Taken from R&T0-60 in 4.4 1/4m in 12.9 @ 108.9 mph! this is for the 335i, I'm guessing the 135 would be .1
quicker. I don't now about you but i'm impressed withg these #'s.

and no this car wont be a dd. it will pretty much like my 8 was; a car that i mod. as far as sti's go, there's alot of them around here there's even alot of them that are fully built so i rather go evo if i had to do the 4 door awd thing. so far it looks like i should go with a m3, but the small aftermarket isn't great. what else is out there? keep the suggestions coming.

You could wait a little bit and get a G37, but that's not a 'toy' and you wouldn't be able to mod it for awhile. Also, the new '08 Accord Coupes look pretty nice, fairly reasonable price and would be easy to rice up.
