Question 91 Civic Hatch

Need cluch help. My friend Mike is in the army and went back. He lives with his sister in apartments. His car was broken into well he was gone. They jacked some little things shifter redline tack stuff like that. So we offered him to store his car at our house. We can tarp it so no one will mess with it. Our house is in a great area + its cheeper than putting it in storage.

Me and my bro went to pick up the car at his sisters place but we cant get it in gear. I have never experienced clutch falier so I dont know what to look for? maybe the clutch cable has failed?
What do you guys think should we just tow it?

Thanks,
-Gilbert

It sounds like the problem is located between the drivers seat and the steering wheel!!!!

under the hood, near the exhaust manifold is a white or black ****. This tightens the clutch cable. Try tightening it (righty tighty) a few turns and try the clutch. If it does not engate at full tension (I wouldn't tighten it that far sans emergency situations) then the clutch is gone or the cable is broken. Also, you can check the mounting bracket itself. Its a bar that the clutch pedal axes on. This tends to fail on a 89-91 civic a lot.

Hope this helps.

Do you start the car in first gear, and it jerks forward? Or do you start the car in neutral and can't get it into the gear at all? If either, the springs on your clutch disk could be broken. That is what happened to me a few months back.
