Affordable Ferrari
Guys it looks like Ferrari is going to produce a cheaper car to compete against the Porsche 911 and the Aston Martin Vantage v8.

Huh?
This car costs 85K british pounds which equals $162,979 according to Yahoo! Currency Converter. Yikes!
Tho the F430 apparently costs $226,253 for British people apparently. It costs a mere $170K here (according to Edmunds).

Owned one for 6 months in 1986 i traded it for a mercedes 380SL The clucth was way heavy servicing costs parts were ridicuolous the interior was very sparse then they didnt even give you a lockable globe box.
The 911 shape has been a slow evolution , finally they have updated the interior albeith with one out of the cayeenne
Back in the 70 -80's porchse had no real competition today its a different story with lots of other brands surpassing them in performance and value .
The only porsche that is a real drivers car is the upcoming porsche cayman a hardtop version of the boxster with extras .
Had porsche produced the RX8 HOW MUCH MORE WOULD THE CAR COST ??
XENON LIGHTS ON MOST PORSCHES ARE EXTRA AS WELL AS 18 INCH WHEELS , NO ALUMINIUM BONNETS OR DOORS wheres the value ??
cheers

I personally feel Porsche is unsurpassed in performance/luxury/value. The 996 is one of the most beautiful cars on the road in my opinion. It's fast as hell, handles like a beast and comes in below most Italian exotics. There are few better performing cars around the price of this car.

This argument should be familiar territory to 8 owners. I could go by an SRT-4 and get better performance than the 8 for 15 K less CDN. The 8 offers a complete package, however, and is well worth the extra money in my and your opinions. Same thing with a Porsche. Currently I would think the GT3 at 99K USD offers Z06 performance.

A good friend of mine owns The Collection of Fine Cars in Toronto. I have driven the ferrari 355,360, NSX,e46 m3,porsche 997,c4,GT2, supra w/big turbo, and although the ferrari 360 is a thorobred and sounds f@#$@n amazing, I think the porsche is my pick for a daily driver supercar. It flat out flys and someone on an R6 can justify that . The thing that most impressed me is the subtle ride around town over all types of surfaces. If anyone here has a chance to drive a turbo'd porsche do it cause it feels so smooth as the turbo's spool up and the car feels like it's lifting off.
The ferrari has amazing handling but the ride is way stiffer in comparison and it is noisy. I love the sound don't get me wrong but sometimes it would be nice if it was a bit less heat score. Driving the ferrari definatly gets more attention. kind of the same feeling as walking around with jennifer lopez in your arm :D .

My neighbor has a GT3, and I wanna drive it so bad. He's like a 20 year old kid, so maybe I can go talk to him sometime and convince him to let me take it for a spin :p I wish I had one soooooo badly. A day will come when I own a very nice Porsche, mark my words

This is actually pretty good, seeing as how a 360 Challenge Stradale can only match the C6's time while costing twice as much as the Porsche and four times as much as the Corvette. Like you said, though, these cars aren't about performance per dollar but rather the total package, so lap times don't tell the whole story.
