Android Auto - Integrating mobile devices and car electronics
I guess CarPC/Tablet/Phone integration is finally making it to the manufacturing level. Looking forward to this quite a bit, and I'm pleased that Google hasn't just partnered with one, or a few manufactuers, but with 40. Mazda included.
Google's Domination Of Your Dash Starts With Android Auto
Would be nice if the display also had an OBD2 input feed directly to apps to bypass the need for a bluetooth/wifi adapter to jump to your phone before going back to the car, but probably too much to hope for from OEMs, since that would savor of self-diagnosis.

Yup, likely so. The news for me is less on Android's part, since that is easy, and more on the part of the vehicle where manufacturers are including the necessary hardware from the start. THAT is the cool part

Looks like this is an option for your RX-8 as well. Gonna need the Metra kit as well. 700 bucks for a modern(ish) electronics setup doesn't sound bad.
