I've been thinking about getting a used C5 for awhile too, probably a 98 or 99. However Rx-8s are so damn sweet even if they have far less power. Anyways I think its a win win situation either way you go. Now I just need the money.

I briefly considered...
...a 2002 C5 during my search...beautiful car: red, only 24,000 miles, 6-speed, world-class speed and performance, the whole nine-yards. "Priced to go" as well. Then I called my insurance company!! I just couldn't swing the cost to insure it...and I'm a no-ticket, no-accident 32 year old!
So it boiled down to a used Boxster, the S2000 and the 8. In all instances, the 8 won out because of practicality (HUGE in this aspect!), uniqueness (it's the Rotary, if you've driven it, you know), and feel (although the S2000 also felt light, nimble and direct).
If I could afford the insurance? Hard to say...but as I only have one car, I'd still have taken the 8. But you can't go wrong with either, it's a nice "problem" to have! Good luck! :D
