Autoweek drives the Bugatti Veyron
Still to heavy for me at 4300lb, but if speed is your thing, I guess its tough to beat. Not a huge fan of its looks, but at 250mph, function over form is a good idea.
What I don't get, is why they couldn't find another 13hp to make it an even 1000. Seriously, I can find 13hp in a civic without trying to hard. They have a W16 engine, 13hp is like cleaning 2 inches of the airfilter :D

It needs a -straight- runway longer than that needed by the double decker Airbus A380 to ever reach the top speed...
In other words the suckers who buy it wont be able to ever get close to their advertised numbers. In a normal day on the road, the elephant will still get eaten by your regular M3s, 911s, etc... that is if their owners didnt crash it first.
1001 hp on a road tire... blah.
Guess why they didnt test it on Nardo? the car is unstable, the limiter is designed to kick you off the "top speed mode" if you turn the steering wheels.
I still think its a HUGE honking waste of a million bucks.
And I want Jeremy Clarkson or Tim Nedell to drive this thing... on a normal road, not some paid up journalist baby sit-ted in their Ehra Lessien test track.
Can you imagine if some Enzo, or McLaren, or Koenigsegg pulls up alongside you...
"hey lets race".
and your reply:
"Errrrrrrrr..... lemme see, nahhh, the temperature is too hot, my tire pressure isnt right, oh and the road turns, and... "
Whatever...
I hope they put a disclaimer on the manual... advertised statistics is only do-able in a specific condition, temperature = ?? degrees, tire pressure = ?? psi, straight road length = ?? km, gross weight = ?? kg, fuel = ?? gallons, care to add more or fill in the blanks?
Id rather spend my money on an Enzo or a Koenig, even Zonda, at least I know Ill be able to do everything on it, on track, off track, in any conditions. No silly second keys or top speed mode here.

It's not meant to compete with the cars you mention. It's a grand tourer. They admit that it's not a race car for the streets. The people who can afford this can afford all the cars you mention and this. It's not marketed, nor designed for you.

According to the article it does 0-186mph in 16.8 seconds. That is twice as fast as a Carrerra GT. I dont think anything will eat it. Not with 987hp. It will probably give an Enzo a run for its money.

another V16, the Cadillac Sixteen
not a thread hijack, it's related :D
I wish they could build this one so I could have another car to drool over that I can't afford.

Its hideous, overweight, and fast as hell. Not a good combination, IMO.
And...where are you going to get the car serviced?????

Most cars like this get serviced by people who come to you. Either that, or the VW/Audi group.
