I'm sure a Ferrari has beaten a corvette before. I'm just talking about the motortrend track times from this particular article. I would do just about anything for that F430 though. I LOVE that car.

I'mma firin' mah lazor!!!
Your bias is so apparent, it's not even funny. Since it is a matter of fact, please show me your definitive proof that americans are unable to make cars. I expect this to be proven throughout all of history, because your argument is invalid unless you are able to do so.

around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: corvette wins by almost 2 seconds... but *I* would still rather have the Ferrari...

Lap comparisons are almost useless if not done the same day and by the same pilot\pilots.
I posted that spa comparison because it was done by the same pilot during the same day and with the same number of laps on each car. A circuit can be a couple of seconds slower from a day to another! even 5 if it rained in the previous 10 days...

Out of that list of cars in the article, if I were spending my own money, I would buy the Porsche Cayman R.
If it were free car day, and I could only choose one from that list, it would be the Ferrari 458 Italia in a heartbeat. Close second would be the Audi R8.
I see Corvettes and Mustangs ever single day of the week.
To me, there's nothing special about them at all anymore.
When I see a Porsche, even though they are pretty common here in Colorado, they make me take natice, as I used to own one, and they are fantastic drivers cars, and the mountains here are fantastic to experience one fully in.
Then there's the road course racetracks available, that makes them even more enjoyable to rip around in one.
When I'm at the track, like this coming Friday, however, when I see a Ferrari ripping around, I stop, listen, and watch, every single time. I try to make sure I'm either in the pits when they come back from their fun time so I can hear that car rumbling heavy at idle, and smell the smells of a Ferrari that just came off the track. If it gives me cancer and I die at 72 instead of 88, I'm fine with that.
There are always Corvettes running around the track here too, and they do well, but they don't even interest me for a second. And I've never seen a new (80's and newer) Mustang at the track, period.
I've seen a couple GT-R's at the track, and you wouldn't believe the amount of Porsche GT2 and GT3's that do track days. Lots of Lotus cars, too. They're all nice, but I don't stand and watch them as I would when there's a Ferrari scrubbing off speed heading into turns 1 and 4, and diving through the Corkscrew, and hammering the Warp Speed Pedal.
There's just something extra special about a Ferrari in my opinion.
And that's all I have, an opinion.
