BEST Skyactiv Video Explaining What Mazda Engineered!
This simple animated video shows exactly what Mazda engineers have done to a 'normal' 4 cylinder /piston 24 valve double overhead cam with direct fuel injection internal combustion engine.
All these MAZDA changes achieved dramatic results in gasoline fuel economy, torque, power, emissions, weight and drive-ability.
It is worth watching and tells all what is SKYACTIV-G (G for Gasoline).
BTW: Mazda's equally impressive Skyactiv-D (D for Diesel) engine will be launched in the US next year 2013, Australia by the end of March 2012, and Europe in a few months.

Thanks for posting. I like the video to put the new technology in layman's terms and I like Mazda's approach with the SkyActiv technology. I wish them the best and hope things work out. I'm just not 100% confident about long-term reliability. It's just not real world tested.
A good example is our 2004-2005 RX8s. I am in the market for a small suv type vehicle and as tempting as a twin turbo diesel CX-5, I'm going to restrain myself from jumping on board for the extra mpg... for now.

From all of the reports (testing) I have seen on the web from all over the world, MPG/LP100K figures quoted by MMC are pretty accurate.
Mazda (Japan) does not intentionally 'fudge/misrepresent' the figures, you have to remember their (Japan) drive cycle testing procedures are different say to the US, but they did say a 20-25% improvement in MPG/LP100K with full SA, and it looks very accurate.
Sometime the conversion done by their distributors is not always correct, like KWatt to HP, or Litres to US Gallon, or Imperial Gallon.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
Really, really good educational vids .. light/bouncy/musical ... but Mazda needs to somehow get the important bits into what - 15 or 30 seconds perhaps... or the majority of consumers limited attention span will preclude them getting even 1/10 of these concepts. Also, doubtful most consumers understand all the techie word/concepts used. But personally, I love them, they actually tell me something useful.

They are looking pretty good J!...
Good to hear they have not lost driving dynamics with all new 'simpler' suspension setup.
Must go for a test soon....not that I want/need one.

Great Vids..
Goods to see MAZDA sales (February) are also strong and UP..way up!
Mazda 3 had one of it's best months and is Mazda's TOP seller world-wide.
Mazda 2 in North America tripled sales!!... from 870 units to 2500+
Mazda 25,651

Don't know if I already pointed this out...sorry..
Interesting to see on the all new CX-5 Mazda has gone back to the old style of Accelerator Pedal which is hinged and attached to the floor.
Virtually impossible for a "moving" floor mat to ride up and under the Accelerator Pedal.
I would expect this to be the same on the all new future generation Mazda's.
