A big question...
If I have the cash to buy a new '05 Corvette (but need to wait till after April '05) or do the Mazdaspeed Conversion to my '04 8 with GT package and a turbo/supercharger...what would you do?

You're on the RX-8 board, what kind of answers are you expecting?
But let me be surprising. I'd go with the C6. Cars are a depreciating asset and not a good investment but the resale value on the C6 will probably be higher (and a higher percentage of the sale price) when you are ready to sell. The RX-8 is popular but no car has a more fanatical following than the 'vette.
I went with the RX-8 for two reasons: it seats four and it costs 20k less. But if you have the cash and don't need the extra seating, my opinion, the 'vette is a whole lot more car.

Insanely Yellow
That's like saying "hmmm ... which should I have the MacCallan 12 year old scotch, or the MacCallan 18 year old" ... both are wonderful. It's all dependent on how badly and how much you want to blow your money. No wrong choices there.

I don't think that is a surprising answer. If I had the cash to buy the new Corvette then most likely I could have both. And that is just what I would do(Assuming I lived long enough to tell about it after my wife found out) :-). The Corvette is my dream car, but that doesn't mean I don't like the Rx-8. Because obviously I do. I own one :-)

The vette is the way to go, barrring cost. If I had the money the vette would be in my garage. Someday, if all goes well, I will upgrade to a vette. This has been and will always be my car to own since I was a teenager. Could never afford one, YET!
400 HP w/0-60 in 4. something seconds. My friend just got one and he says the power almost gives you whiplash.

That reminds me-- I saw an 05 Corvette todayin light silver . I actually did not likehow it looked in that color but Id still buy one any day ifI had the chance. Bythe way - even w/forced induction I doubt your 8 willever be as quick asone of those. Handling onthose mustbe great too

If I didn't need 4 seats (and had the money), I'd choose the 'vette in a heartbeat...but then again, if I didn't need 4 seats (and had the money), I'd be in a late model Porsche C4S

Well, I do have the money to have both...but don't need both. However, I do have a 13 year old that I know will be wanting to drive in the very near future. So, maybe I keep the 8. I just do not want to have the two payments right now. Keep in mind that my wife is driving a new SUV too.
Man, I hate decisions...I really like the 8 because it is fun to drive. But you guys are right, the 'vette is the way to go. Now just have to wait till after we get in the new house.

I don't think with the RX8's it's missing the difference between the original stated (250 HP) and the "revised" HP that makes people want the vette - the vettes are sort of a whole different thing!
If price were no object, I bet many of the RX8'rs advising he buy the vette, would tell him to buy the ....ferrari...Ford GT...viper.....whatever..... instead of the vette.
