BMW 1 Series M Rounds Nürburgring Slower than Audi TT-RS
You're wondering how fast the new BMW 1 Series M can get around Germany's Nürburgring, right? BMW isn't talking, but some who've witnessed a timed run have an answer. And it's good news for Audi. Read on.
According to several witnesses to a BMW Nürburgring test run, including 1Addicts' Steved, the new 1 Series M coupe turned the hellish green one in 8:12. Among BMW models, such a time places the newest M smack between the E63 M6 at 8:09 and the E60 M5 at 8:13, and dead equal with the Z4 M Coupe. In context of other automakers, it's between the Audi TT-RS at 8:09 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage at 8:13. Looks like the tiniest M is also one second slower than the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
Pretty jaunty, sis. Were you were expecting a lap time rivaling, say, the E92 M3 (8:05) or BMW M3 GTS (7:48)? Not quite.
As per the details BMW revealed last week, the 1 Series M moves by way of the company's N54-spec twin-turbo, direct-injected 3.0-liter inline six tuned to 335 hp and 332 lb/ft at 1,500 rpm — with up to 369-lb-ft available once in a while via overboost. That M button on the dash? It only adjusts throttle response, not available power. BMW says it can get from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.

3.2 Liter Inline Sex
Yep. In a sea of Bimmers (and other marques) with all the techno-nurnies BMW was true to the driver with the 2006-2008 M coupe and roadster...good old fashioned performance hardware with very little techno-crap.
IMHO the Z4M was the last true driver's car BMW released.

BMW does seem to have gotten really caught up in having a bunch of buttons and gadgets. It seems like it would just be distracting to have 8 different settings for traction control. And I really don't get why they do some stuff, like how the M6 has 400hp when you crank it, but has a setting that switches it to 500hp. Why have settings that people have to deal with instead of just have it put out the horsepower it is capable of?..... That being said, those interior shots really do make it look like they are cutting back on a bunch of the extra stuff on this one. I like what I have seen of this car so far.
I am still waiting for them to bring back this bad boy though....

This car is too much like the 135i. Doesn't sound particularly good either:

People will do the widebody conversion but will pay out the *** to do so. I have an S4 (B5 model) and a lot of people like the widebody look of the RS4 so they'll do RS4 widebody conversions. When it's all said and done, I think most of these builds regularly come out costing over $15k, so it's not exactly something that's easy to duplicate. Now that I think about it, that probably happens because the RS4 wasn't sold in the US, but I still wouldn't be surprised if a few 1M's get converted.

It's better than the 135i for sure. The engine power is the one lacking area as a lot of aftermarket tuners have managed more with the engine and probably maintain similar reliability. The other changes are the ones that will be more difficult to duplicate or beat.

I looked for a 135 used but couldn't find one remotely close. This was my alternative to the 8 but couldn't get a hold of one at the time... Amazing car
