They had one the following week, though it did sell before I could testdrive it. They told me ED wouldn't be available for 2 years prior to the car being released to get me to order one, ED is currently available as far as I know. They also tried to get a $2000 non refundable deposit to have a shot at one of the first cars they got in. Most dealerships around the country were taking $500 refundable deposits from what I had heard.

They also fed me some bullshit lines about other cars they have that are on waiting lists for months to come. A few weeks later they had several of those cars sitting on their lot. Maybe it's just this particular BMW dealership but I can't help but feel a little disgrntled towards BMW as a whole after my experiences. I think BMW is shooting themselves in the foot with the way they're optioning these cars and they're going to have many cars sitting on lots for a long period of time once the initial "gotta be the first one on my block" buyers get theirs.
I wouldn't even consider buying from a dealership that either lied to me or was so grossly misinformed like the one you're describing. There are several detailed reviews of the whole ED process on 1addicts.com so that's crap. The deposit thing is very dealer specific (best to get it in writing and not agree to anything non-refundable).

I think it's very possible that there are going to be a lot of these things sitting on lots. The price point is high enough (and even higher with all the options) that very few people can afford it would consider one since most people would just opt for the 3 series since they want the cachet and backseat. Add to that the 09's are going to be out relatively soon and it's not good for BMW.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry about that dealership. Use them to get a test drive and that's it. You can buy from dozens of other places in the general area without much hassle and get a pretty good (if not great) deal.

Probably alot more dealers on the left and right coasts than in Milwaukee though Saturn. I have I think 5 or more in a 30-40 mile radius of me but then that include the DC metro area.

Ordering is probably going to be the best way to get this car or better yet wait for 1 year until people are defaulting on their new loaded 135 purchases and get it for a steal.

Stock wil be a bit limited since BMW says they are not making alot on the 1 due to currency differences (who knows how much truth there is in that). Either way as with any new "hot" car it takes a year or so for the hubub to die down and dealer to be reasonable.

Meh, I'd still take a Z4 M Coupe.

Being a 335i owner I wonder how the 135i will do when it's not too far of jump to a more practical 335i?.......I had my car in for service and got to see one up close and I just can't fall in love with the 135's lines, but maybe I needed some time with it ?...it does look better in person than the pics I have seen though.....as far as the engine, I have about 16k on my car now, and it feels like it's really broken in ....absolutely love it, and so easy to mod...I have the Turbo Tuner and have never had a single issue. With that mod this car is a real sleeper.....so far I have to say this has been my most pleasant experience with a vehicle, and a lot of that comes from the engine! The car just feels "tight", but you have to get the sport and premium package IMO. I drive it quite hard and still get better mileage than my old 8. I think I drive with it in sport mode 95% of the time! If anyone test drives one, put it in sport mode, it really feels like a different beast and the transmission is incredible....the shifts will put a smile on your face. This is the first Auto I've owned in a while and I don't miss the manual at all! In fact the Auto with paddles is quite fun......but sport mode on the auto will knock your socks off....ok maybe I am a little bias, but I think BMW hit a sweet spot with this car.
I am sure they underrated the hp on this car?

Stealth long time no talk.....I am still in Edmonton so if you want to test drive I'd be happy to accommodate....I think you did as much when you had your 8 with the old ECU upgrade (can't remember the name of it?)....that was a while ago?

Hope you are well... and your 8 has been good to you!

I really like BMWs, but I find most of the people drive them like Buicks and only bought them for the prestige. I find it especially on cars like the M3.
