Long debate of how Mazda figures the engine size of the Rotary. Many say Mazda is correct, others say Mazda is not and that a 1.3l would be 2.6l or so...but they are comparing it against a piston engine. Been talked about on here and throughout the world. You can find more info through a search.

I would've given the nod to the BMW V10 in the performance category. But for the LS7 not to finish top 3 is a shame. #2 the Ferrari 4.3L probably won't last 10,000 miles, knowing Ferrari.

that bmw v10 is beautiful.
i'm not a real fan of bmw cars atm because i really dislike the fact that they continue to take the concept of driving away from the driver and jam it into an even smarter computer. Yes, i'm sure for the average driver, that's a great thing, but for enthusiasts, it's just not as much fun! Mazda did it too, but not nearly to the extent of BMW.
Safety is great, but I wanna drive!

What was the criteria? Power? Engineering? Patents pending? All of the above?
BMW engines are awesome but good luck trying to mod any BMW engine? Tunability obviously wasn't a criteria, as those M3 guys pay $2k+ for a Dinan titanium exhaust and get 8-10whp.

Well for one, the LS7 will last about 1700x longer than the Ferrari 4.3 :p . And it is a pretty amazing engine. It won't be recognized by the International community, simply because it's "Old tech." When thuthfully, it is an old concept, with a lot of high tech built in. And peak horsepower isn't everything (which is why the old Buick GN was faster (much) than cars with more horsepower).
