BMW e46 M3 vs. BMW 335i
#2
I see youre having your BMW dreams again
335i, tune the twin turbo system a little and it will crush a E46 M3, E46 M3 is pretty much maxed out from the factory and is exceedingly expensive to tune. plus i like the new body style better. The 08 E90 M3 on the otherhand is a whole different story.

speaking of the 6 series, its quit sexy. I bumped into a M6 last night driving home from a friends house party on Route 7 around Tysons, VA... the sexy quad exhausts and the M badge made it pretty sweet looking.. he was driving slow as hell and chilling on the open road, I pushed it next to him and left him behind. then I felt stupid cause he would rape me easily with his 500hp monster anytime, so he was probably just laughing at how retarded I am.
id still pick a 335, just because a used E46 M3 is usually about to run out of the warranty, the maintenance cost is going to be insane on a E46 without warranty.

twin turbo??? I thought it was just a single turbo? The 335i should be more of a refine ride vs. the much stiffer m3. I'm a little more intrigued by the new 335i coupe, I would picked the 335i.

I like the front on the new 3 Series and the rear on the sedan doesn't bother me, but the side profile sucks. The pics I've seen thus far of the coupe... it looks odd... like someone just forgot to include the rear doors (i.e. it looks long from the door to the rear). maybe i'll like it better in person. However... either way, I don't care much for the e90's interior. I find the e46 interior easier on the eyes and I'm hating the iDrive dash setup. Would much prefer it to be like the 1 Series and the Z4... (flip up screen like the RX-8)...

while iam excited about the new 335i (mostly coz my dad is pretty much set on buying one, and we may negotiate day trades) stock for stock the e46 M3 has more power, better handling and weighs less. From my impression on the BMW website however I think they are still building the M3 (please shoot me down if im wrong...im just going on what i found at the website)

Autoweek review
There is a new review for the BMW 335i on autoweek

found this to be interesting
/Quote:
The rear seat area is surprisingly spacious, too; access to the back is a little awkward, but anyone sent back there will enjoy reasonable legroom and headroom. The engineering team admits to looking at the spacious Mazda RX-8, and it shows. Quote/

With the E46 M3 having a LSD and the 335 not the M3 will kill it at the track every time. Also sounds like the 335 has a bit softer suspension. I wonder how they compare on weight. To me the 335 might make a better driver and the M3 would be the better track toy.

e90, better rear suspension [5 versus 3 link]
even though the m3 [unibody] was strengthened, I would guess the e90 is stronger in torsion and bending rigidity.
Plus the m3 [s54] engine only makes 300hp@7000.
if you unlock the small turbos, you would probably make close to the same power 330hp-ish @6000, but the peak torque would be 350ft-lbs@3500.
and how long until quaife [or someone else] makes a torque sensitive differential for the e90?
