If it is happening, it'll likely be a long way off. If I remember right, the 2 series was supposed to be the coupe version of the 1 series. However, there isn't a coupe version of the 1 series yet, let alone an M version. I doubt it would be called the 2 series anymore, BMW did away with the new naming conventions. I'd rather see them bring the 1 series over here and give us an M form.

There's an "unofficial" M version. The 1 Series normally has the I-4 engine with 115-150bps. The 130i comes with the 261bps I-6 and tuned suspension I believe...

There is already an M version of the 1-series, the 130i M Sport. http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...ml/country/gcf

The price is in the article: 26,515 British pounds = ~$46K
For reference, a manual RX-8 is 22,300 British pounds = ~$39K

I love how BMW uses numbers for their models. It's like, here we'll make it easier for everyone to judge how important you are.

That's as much of an M version as a 330Ci with the M package is. I'm talking real M version.

The article leads you to think so, but it's not the real thing. Nomenclature... not M1, but 130i M Sport. Second, it's not listed under the M cars on the BMW international website.

yeah I doubt that they will call that M1 after the real M1 was a nice sports car

But I did find this for the 2 series and M2. looks pretty cool kinda of something to go agains the MB 230 hatchback thing

I just got back brom Europe(a few different places) and saw the 1-series all over the place. I have to say, i have always thought it was OK in pics...some cool lines and interesting curves in an awkward shape...

However, the car looks, IMHO, great in person. Many of it's complex styling elements just don't show temselves in print or in pixels...and i saw a few of the M-Sport models too( one on the street, one in the Berlin BMW showroom) and thew both looked pretty hot.

Worth the $$? Prolly not. Am in into the hatch? Nope. But for what it is, it's pretty cool

And based on how the thing went around a track with J.Clarkson behind the wheel, it seems to really drive like a bimmer...
