so i've come to the conclusion that i could learn alot more about engines and upgrading/modding.
and unfortunately i've come to the realization that i'll have to read.......
so can anyone recommend any good books, preferably not all text, i do like pictures lol, that could help further my knowledge on engine upgrading?
thanks

read the forums
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/
plenty of information in there about upgrading.

There are no real books on modding in general. Rodding has plenty of books and a lot of that subject can apply to 8's.
There are books on specific subjects, such as ignitions, or automotive electrical wiring, carputers, body work, etc.
Many of the mods discussed here are plug and play like the MazSport fan controller or intake and exhaust. For those changed you are better off reading the discussions on this board.
Check out the DIY section for some ideas with instructions.
On engine work, the Mazda doc and some of the PDFs around are great. I am enjoying 'How to modify your Mazda RX-7' by Dave Emanuel and Jim Downing now. But we have a 1st gen too. Bit much of what is discussed can help in working with your 8.
