That my friends is my greatest escape ever... and I have gotten away with a lot of things.
What is the point of driving that fast on a public road?!
Stupid, stupid, Stoopid thing to do.

he should've had his car impounded and taken to jail.
The cop is an idiot for not doing just that. What lesson did this guy get? That he could get away with being a moron?
You know this guy will do this again. Next time he (well who cares about him, the victim he'll inevitably kill) might not be so lucky.

It isn't about being afraid of speed dmp it is about the safety of the road, innocent bystanders.
The place for speed is on the track.
The majority of public roads are not as well maintained as a track and the people driving on them are not expecting someone to be zinging by at that kind of speed.
Geez this forum is making me sound old.
Wise?

adaptive speed limits .. i didnt see anyone anywhere that he could possibly endager in the area .. i'm not exactly in support of 144 on the streets though i've done that too .. but i'm behind this cops judgement
again freeways in germany are safe except for suicidal ppl that go the wrong way on purpose .. just becuse it's relatively high compared to our nonsense speed limits doesnt mean deadly offense .. or whats the penalty our judicial system has for this

From what I have heard, the Autoban is maintained better than the majority of roads here in the U.S.
Testing to attain a license is more thorough so those driving should have a higher average expertise as a driver.
The vehicles allowed on the Autoban go through stringent checks to ensure the safety of the vehicle.
I can't say I have never driven at a high rate of speed on a public road either... but I don't want to encourage those out there that it is cool to do.
For such a short amount of pleasure that it gives the effects of an accident just aren't worth the risk.

There might not have been anyone to endanger looking back on the event. However, just because there are no cars on the road doesn't mean there isn't a pedestrian or a broken down vehicle just out of sight. Should be 30days and suspended liscense for 1 year at the minimum. 144mph is nothing like 100mph, reaction time is greatly reduced, stopping distance is exponentially higher, etc. Is 25 years in jail really worth it? I don't think anyone will say yes.

Boohoohoo.
You guys act like people don't get away with this **** every single day. By the way, if you want to get technical here, 100mph is not okay either, yet I'm sure every last one of you has redlined 3rd into 4th on a public road. Holy hypocrites Batman!

Lucky he wasn't here in MN the law is currently 6 month minimum loss of license if driving over 100mph.
I am jealous he was able to get a reduced ticket. Don't think I have ever gotten one
Granted I haven't had one in quite a while.

Well if you look at the video the officer who pulled him over did not give the ticket the other officer who showed up afterwards did. So you gotta ask yourself why was that. Either the orginal officer was off duty or about to be off duty and didnt wish to do the paper work so he handed it to the other officer. Telling the guy "yeah instead of 144mph, we are saying you did 90mph" was to possibly shut him up. Hopefully the guy will learn from this and not be that stupid again and if all else invest in a radar dector.

He should have gotten punched in the face and then had his car turned into scrap metal.
People only want to react all angrily when something bad happens. Guess what -- this is how bad things happen.

no - bad things will still happen on the road when people are going the speed limit - and sometimes bad things happen b/c they did not break the speed limit - some of u r going too far with his punishment - he got a ticket - he had to pay it - i am kinda glad he did not get thrown in jail - he was speeding - this should never be a jailed offense - if it becomes one we will be creating more criminals I assure u......people that speed run the risk of getting busted - the point system that is in place is in place to let repeat offenders lose their DL for a set period of time - this is the system we[speaking US-sorry] have in place - if it does not work - I don even give a **** - there is so much other, way more important, stuff in our laws that need fixing before this - just kinda irritates me that everyone immediately judges the d00d when pr0lly half of u have done close to the same - 100mph counts - or another infraction of the law that is comprable or somene else's "pet-peeve-law"......
yes it is possible that someone may get hurt or even die - same with walking down the road or some other classic point of equal meaning......
sorry - had to say that - just sick of people reaming people for speeding in real world conditions......
