Can Am Spyder
Anyone catch the info on the Can Am Spyder yet? Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but something I am going to consider as oppoesedd to another bike in the near future. I searched and didn't see anything else under Can AM, but let me know if it is old news and I will shut it down.

Nah, the launch was just weeks ago. Can Am is back!
1000cc v-twin rotax, about 700 pounds and 110hp, should fly nicely at about $18000 Canadian. Has all sorts of ABS/DSC type electronics to keep it on, um, three wheels.
Would never trade a bike for it, but I'd love to try one. May be just the thing for those nervous about two wheels. Demo rides are coming up, they are due out this summer.

Yeah, I had a CanAm 250 dirt bike when I was a kid, and it ripped. Pretty loud and lots of vibration, but CanAm and Bombardier have had their followers for years. This new Rotax twin cylinder 990 sounds like the ticket...very KTM like I am sure.
I have been considering buying a new KTM Duke 990, or Adventure, and have also been looking at the new Aprilia twin supermotards. Having ridden motorcycles since I was in 5th grade, I have never been much on 4-wheelers. As a racey reverse configuration 3-wheeler this is different though, and I am going to get a test ride before pulling the trigger on another bike... . Probably look just right parked next to the 8!

This three wheeler actually has the same engine as those Aprilia's, heard my first one last summer (finally imported to Canada!) with pipes and they sound even better than a/c Ducatis.
It does look cool, Cycle Canada just reported on their press release.

So Can Am is owned by Sea-Doo (Bombardier Recreational Products )
BRP also just introduced its 1494cc supercharged 215 HP watercraft. Well guess what . . . they are based on the same engine slated for the Spyder. So for those of you who want one . . . wait till the third year of production.

Kind of adapting the snowmobile concept for the street...
Great concept, and should open up the world of motorcycles to a whole bunch of people that would otherwise shy away from 2 wheels, it could also become very popular with the motorcycle rental places, since it kind of looks like a sportbike in certain aspects, but limits the possibility of laying it on it's side by an inexperienced renter.
Looks very cool, but $18,000 ?? A little pricey for a SeaDoo bike
(that's more than most liter bikes, except maybe Ducati, Aprilla, and Bimota)
Might rent it, when it becomes available, to see what it's like for a weekend, but to own...I'll stick with a CBR600RR

I agree, great concept if you ask me.

The proof of what the Spyder is about will be in the test ride. The reason I like to ride motorcycles is enjoying that visceral one-with-the-road feel that only a motorcycle can fully deliver. Some cars also deliver a similar man/machine/road feel that is akin to riding a motorcycle. I have driven and owned a few of those cars, and the main reason the RX8 is in my garage is that it posseses that kind of driving personality. My biggest concern with the Can-Am Spyder is that it will not offer me much more enjoyment than carving the corners in my RX8. It looks like it is hanging the corners pretty well in the website films though, so I guess I will have to see how the Spyder handles and rides before drawing a conclusion.
