Car Sales - Website?
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone new of a website that has total car sales for all vehicles (not just the RX8) ...
The reason I ask is because I'd like to compare RX8 sales with other cars in its class. I know the Nissan sales are also posted, but I'm curious about:
Honda s2000
WRX STI
Audi TT
Ect ..
I think it would be a neat comparison, and I assume someone must have this information organized nicely.
Furthermore, I'd like to see a breakdown of sales by State/Province. I live in Manitoba, Canada and am curious how many other RX8's have been sold in this part of the world. I'm sure others are also curious as to how many RX8's have been sold in their city/state ...
Thanks in advance
Jeremy

It's not so easy to get cumulative totals for a particular, but you can at least get monthly sales figure by automaker (usually they will have a breakdown by model, but not always). They will usually indicator calendar year to date sales as well.
The best way I've found to get US auto sales is to go to:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/ and then search for "[automaker's name] sales" [w/o the quotes]. I usually come across Canadian sales as well but I usually don't look at those since the #s are much smaller and I don't live in Canada. The alternative is to try to find the sales press releases on each individual manufacturer's site. Sometimes it's not so easy to find, like for Nissan it's http://www.nissannews.com/ not www.nissanusa.com.
Here's some US figures I've gathered so far for US Nov 03 sales. Following the URL is the # of cars that company sold in the US that month. As for state/province, I've never found any sales data like that posted publicly. Oh well.
BTW, you won't get WRX STi data nor TT data, at least for the US as those Audi and Subaru don't give a breakdown by model [well Subaru lumps together all Imprezas for instance]. Mitsubishi doesn't either. The S2000 sales are very low each month. The best selling sports car I've seen when glancing thru the data is the Mustang.

If you have access to Automotive News, at the beginning of each month they have sales info for pretty much every make/model. It usually has past month's sales, previous year same month sales, and sales for either the past 8 months or 12 months (I can't remember atm).

Thanks very much cwerdna ...
I'm happy for Mazda that the sales are going well, but at the same time, I kinda want this car to stay rare ...
There's nothing worse than seeing everyone else driving the same car you have ...
I'm glad to see that 350z sales are about the same as the RX8, and have been on the market for two years, but you don't see them all that often ...
Hopefully, that means in a couple of years, my RX8 will still turn heads

Hmmm, I haven't seen many RX-8s on the road here. I've seen one over and over, but I think I've only seen one other on the road. I've seen Zs a lot more often. But then again, where I live and work results in a VERY skewed distribution of brands: lots of BMWs, quite a few Audis, a fair # of Porsches, a lot of Subarus, lots of other Japanese cars, and few American cars.
BTW, I own a 350Z.
