That works until someone who disapproves of two spaces for one car parks right next to you for fun. Especially if it's a lot that does not have a lot of spare spaces.

I used to use an ATM that had three parking spaces. Drove up one day, and found a Jag parked diagonally across two of them. His path in/out needed to cross the third. I parked in the third. Straight in, no attempt to block him in, but he was blocked.

When he finished with the ATM, he had to wait for me before he could get out. He did try asking me to move my car. I told him I'd leave once I was done at the ATM.

It would have been fun to walk over to another store when I finished my banking, but the spaces were reserved for the ATM so I left when I was done.

With my 8, I'll try to park in a distant corner, properly centered in the space, far enough that people wouldn't want to walk. A lot of the time there are other nice sports cars in the same far corner. I feel pretty safe parking next to late model sports cars, or any kind of enthusiast car that's nice and clean.

My fiance makes fun of me but...when I goto wal-mart I park about a 2+ minute walk from my car to the entrance of wal-mart....where nobody else parks in their parking lot...and it's uphill so cart's wont blow into me...at work...I park in the parking places where the cars are parked in a line, rather than next to each other...I used to park the other way but some dumb b*tch dinged my door and didn't tell me...but I know who it was!!

I park at least one empty space away from the last person in the row, if I can. Park next to other 8s or like someone else already mentioned; If I would own it I will park next to it if I must.

At work all our spots are filled (people have to park on the grass and in "emergency" areas) so I am forced to park in a space with a car on either side. Most of the cars are fairly nice in my area (central jersey) and I know there are no kids at work with their parents. Unfortunately, there is only so much you can do. I got a door ding with <2500 miles on my RX-8. It didnt take off any paint, and I figure once i get door ding #2 (inevitable) i will take it to a dent wizard, or whatever.

Like another poster said, I will park in a higher spot if in a lot with carts so that they roll into the poor cars in the lower areas.
