carsponsors.com.......Getting Better?
Okay, I started a thread about this a few days ago and killed it because it has been discussed a lot already. But I think now is a good time to kind of revamp this subject.
I went into their website about one week ago to see what it was about. I went in thinking it is just another gimmick designed to take your money. And I still think it is. I entered my vehicle information and email into their site before deciding not to follow through. Now, they are sending me emails out the butt talking about how there are already lots of sponsors "lined up" for me.
Now, they are also saying that Vertical Doors Inc. is wanting to give me a free vertical door kit w/ free shipping. I am also qualified for free gauges, free graphics, etc. (all worthless in my opinion).
Does it seem as though these guys are drawing more attention from reputable companies. Or is it just a bunch of bullshit?

If you have to pay upfront for a sponsorship, sorry buddy its not a sponsorship... Id say its more like a DirectBuy.com club where you pay a membership fee to get deals direct from product manufacturers.
These sponsorships are full sponsorships meaning that you do not have to pay for these parts. All you need to do is promote your sponsors ahead of time to receive your free parts.
I mean honestly how can you promote a product you don't have legitimately?

Companies like this thrive on the ignorance of car enthustists who are simply looking to get a free lunch. Contrary to what you might think or have seen at sites like this, companies are not lining up in droves to throw parts at mostly stock cars attending local car shows.
True car sponsors look for much more than someone simply being willing to put a sticker on their car. They are looking for someone who has already built themselves a vehicle, produced results in the forms of wins or recognition and demonstrates the ability to reach a specific market segment. The simple truth is if you are not willing to invest serious money into yourself then why would anyone else?
I've posted this several times over but here's the deal with sites like carsponsorships.com: You pay a fee to get access to certain products. You get a "discount" on them but you still have to pay and install them yourself. Then you have to get to shows (entry fees paid by you) or races. There's a lot of work up front doing promotions for companies and you will be expected to travel to shows/races in your region or farther. At some point you might be approached and given free parts such as wheels, body kits or performance parts. You will still be responsible for installing them and the fit and finish. The kicker? You don't get to choose the parts. You run what these companies want you to run or you don't get it.
Here's the test. Check out Ksport's sponsorship page. http://www.ksportusa.com/asp/sponsorship.asp
If you can fill that page out completely and easily then you have a shot at sponsorship. If you have a lot of blank entry fields then obviously you're not going to get looked at.
