And the news that GM is going to cancel the SS and V line is very sad, looks like GM is going to give the market what they want, Their going to improve the fit and finish and decrese the performance. Just like Toyota is doing right now and their selling like crazy??

Correction: It has a LOT of kick and VERY GOOD handling. Dont downplay it man, its a little beast in the performance department. Yea its not great lookin and is a bit bland inside and out, but it speaks for itself on the road and track. Personally, i like it for what it is. I dont think its the kind of car i would want as my only car, thats for sure, but as a 2nd or 3rd car it would be fun.

Why all the hate for the Cobalt SS? It's a cheap economy car getting 30+mpg with a little kick and decent handling. Sure the wing is ugly, but I guess it has to serve some purpose if the car goes 160+ mph

The Cobalt SS is similar in that it has a reputation for a car owned by ghetto poor kids who want something fast without quality or concern. You may not believe this about the car, but the reputation is so strong, you don't want to be associated with that crowd of people by what you drive. You choice in cars is heavily influenced by the reputation it will earn you ammong your peers. The reputation of a car is generally decided by the majority of the buyers in it's first year of release. The RX-8 was bought up by techy gurus in there early to middle adult hood. That was the direction the car aimed for after that.

And with the current economy, lower priced cars are much more appealing now then the higher end luxury cars.
Last time I checked, I thought we bought cars because we liked them, not what other people think about them. If that was the case, everyone would be driving Corolla's and Camry's because CR likes them. I really couldn't give a damn about what other people thought about my car.

I was playing with a silver Cobalt SS on the highway (shorts 1-2 gear bursts) and I was totally dusted by more than a length each time. had it gone bit of a distance I would have been destroyed. I know there are many factors at play here and that the RX-8 is not a power straight line car but regardless it hurts to get owned by a pumped up entry level economy car. Just thought of this thread when it happened.

The above post shows why there will be no resale on the Cobalt. It will be long forgotten if and when the Cruze hits showrooms. It all comes down to buying something you will be happy with. But if resale is a consideration, you may want to reconsider.
I personally don't trust GM management due to their endless boneheaded decisions. I would rather spend the extra money on a speed 3 and have better resale and a model that is still being produced and supported by the manufacturer.
