Concept GTO
What do you guys think about this GTO? Personally if it were available now, I would trade in my RX-8 for it. (I would get a black one...)

Not normally the repost police but this is WAY old. Check the article date:
Published Date: 11/8/04
I also know I've seen it long before that that. I also recall reading that there's no possibility of it hitting production.

Oil Injection
reminds me of the lingenfelter twin-turbo GTO, basicaly the same kit off the vette. 900hp or something crazy.
the glass in the paintjob sounds cool. but the nearly 4k lbs of car isnt too appealing.

You could still make a body kit that looks like this GTO on an 05. Wonder how much that would cost?
A Fender Flare kit alone for the GTO costs anywhere from $10-$16,000 installed depending which company you go with. And those are just kits that go over the existing body panels (after trimming the existing sheetmetal to allow for wider tires).
The Woodward kit (what the above GTO is called) replaces every bodypanel on the car with the exception of the roof and the trunk. Initial estimates that some guys got for production of the kit were extraordinarly high and even those were dependent on a sales number that never would happen -- there's just not enough guys doing serious aesthetic-mods to their GTOs. They're engine modding guys.

Here's something more, ahem, recent -

IMO, this concept is a little too sharp around the edges, but hopefully it'll be lighter and maybe more powerful. It's no F-Body though.

F that man, if I want a straight line car, MAYBE. But put that 4000lb thing into a corner fast and your asking for trouble. LOL Dont like the looks and I'm more into turning, not straight line.

All those mods cost a tiny fraction of RX-8 mods BTW -- a 14" Baer Big Brake Kit is $800 compared to about $2000+ for ours. We can barely buy rotors for the price of the entire brake kit. A full suspension kit with all the above items, including coilovers, is only $1500.

Weight is a concern, but if you have enough power, who gives a **** about how much it weighs? Look at the Ford GT500. Nearly 4000 lbs, but its 450+ hp is more than enough to probably give it a low 12-second timeslip.
Oh yeah, don't forget about that drift GTO driven by Rhys (or is it Rod) Millen. Screech!

There's a number of GTO owners that road race very competitively against E46 M3s and the like. Upgrade the sways, the bushings, install a camber kit, a Big Brake Kit and some better shocks and the car handles extremely well. It's still heavy, but weight is easy to trim too -- you can shave a couple hundred pounds in just a few minutes by removing the spare, the skidplate, and a few other various items.

Making fun of GM products is just too easy, remember the Camaro and Firebird are no longer made for a good reason.......piles. The new Corvette still has a pusrod engine and you have to wear gold chains around your neck to own one. Perhaps one day before we die GM will build a great car, I can't see it but just maybe if Porsche buys them out........

It's a pushrod engine that performs fabulously. The sophistication argument is retarded. I don't care how sophisticated an engine is, if it can pump out those numbers while still getting respectable gas mileage. The F-bodies were hardly 'piles.' If a 5th gen were for sale today, they'd sell very well (the 350Z sells like hotcakes, and it's simply a lower performance, Nissan built clone of the F-body, imo). It was just a matter of **** poor timing on GM's part. High powered, medium cost sports cars simply were not selling that well in the late 90's early 00's. There's the reason Supras, FD's, 300z's, 3000GTs, were cancelled also. Only the Mustang survived.
