Confirmed RX- 9 in winding road?

Things about it are way out of proportion. Rear is weird - little like a TT, kind of weak; front fenders are ... bizzare; wheels...I'm sick of pics w/24" rims. The middle is ok, the front not too bad. Good this isn't really real.

I think it takes some ideas from the Furai as well. High shoulders pointed nose...it just erased the back wheel well indentations.
Over all my least favorite of the renderings so far. The front looks too ricey for my tastes. While this works for the Furai I just don't feel this one...

Understanding that this is a computer rendering that seems put together more as an inspirational than a practical deal, I think it's a winner. I like the agressivness and all out attitude of the idea. For those of us who love the DTM machines this thing rocks! Think a modern NSX halo car for Mazda, and you get it.
If Mazda can produce anything close to this, with a 300hp 16x and a sub 2800 weight, I'll be the first in line!
Did I say I love it; a true worthy succesor in the RX-7 line!

Familiarity does tend to breed contempt, it appears.
I have yet to see a realistic streetable concept that I like better than the RX-8 we have now. Some aren't bad, but none get my juices flowing more than what's in my garage right now.
I'm espcially not liking that leaf-nosed bat front-end that seems to be on every chop I see.
We've had the 8 for over 4 years now and people have a tendency to marginalize something just because it's not "new".
The RX-8 design is beautiful and destined to be a classic. I'll be in love with this car for many years. Heck, I'm still in love with the 1st-gen RX-7. That car was pretty darn nifty back in it's day, too.

I agree totally JT. The 8 is a most beautiful work of automotive art from just about every angle (but not all!). I love to just look at it.
What I'd throw hard earned money at by the barrel, and immediately treat my current car as yesterdays old girlfriend, is if Mazda simply (easy for me to say) put the Furai-like front end on the basic 8 design and threw a few of the orgasmic organic creases and curves to approximate the Furai on the sides and back. You know a "Furai for the rest of us". I really wouldn't mind even if it had the same HP, same engine (OK the 16X would be nice!). I just love that shape!!! Pure car sex

I hope that they have an available 6 speed manual transmission in the lineup. I like the paddle shifters, but the feel of a real manual is far to great. The design is awesome though, they'll have my deposit!!
