There are several answers to this question, for one thing, parts are more readily available and probably cheaper for a 13b, 4ag parts are a pita to find or they're priced like they came off a Bentley if you do happen to find a decent source. These cars weigh nothing, have a good chassis to build off of, and are cheap, so adding a more parts friendly (and more powerful at that) for either less money or close to the same as playing with the stock toyota motor makes perfect sense. I dig cars like this, if I had the funds laying around I'd drop a 13b in a VW beetle and put it in the front to boot lol
