Bunch of reports today outlining details of the CX-5. It seems they are all comign from this AutoCar report
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/257612/
It also meets next gen US emissions standards
really , its only 1 detail. not plural. the rest in the articles is already known. no mentions of weight of the vehicle. They dont even confimm the Sky-D for the US

The forthcoming SUV will be equipped with a new 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 173bhp at 4500rpm and 310lb ft at 2000rpm. The engine is 20 per cent more economical than the current 2.2 diesel. It will be mated to a new six-speed manual transmission.
With this new engine and gearbox, the front-wheel-drive CX-5 will have CO2 emissions of less than 120g/km.
The engine also already meets Euro 6 emissions standards (not due to come into force until September 2014) without expensive NOx traps. It is also cheaper to build than today’s Euro 5 diesels.

Jeremy Thompson, MD of Mazda UK, said that in the past the company had often been criticized for its bland cabins, but that the new model “would mark a significant step forward… the interior design will definitely match the exterior”.

I guess I won't be getting the CX-5.
Look at the concept again guys ... like I said before, it seats only 4 ... (look at the rear pic), like the 8.
unless they totally changed the chassis , which is very unlikely. Guess I have to wait longer![Frown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
if it's for personal use, I really don't mind, but I need to get a car for business. This is not going to work

I'm trying to get my wife to hold off on getting a new car until this comes out. Very curious to see the details in the fall. I would doubt that the US will get the diesel variant, and also doubt that we will see the manual transmission. Or if they do have the manual it will be on a base model only with no creature comforts.

I think this competes well with the Mini Countryman, which costs over $35,000 if you want any good options.
if they really bring it to the states with a 300 torques diesel and a manual tranny and AWD, I may have to buy one if they can keep it to around $30,000.

I don't mind, it's going to be company car. so 4 seats (including driver) is a no no ![Nono](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/nono.gif)
but I don't think I can wait anymore ...
went to look at Lexus today for some used ES. but a pos one that has damages all over (paint/interoir radio **** is mia/front bumper obviously cracked inside as it's not in line with the head light/chorme wheels has curb rash all over/etc) still selling for like 20K with 60K on odo. I was like f-outa here.
I will go to another Lexus dealer tomorrow, then infiniti, then probably Acura. Domestic ? nope.
Saw an AD for a 2004 Audi A8L the other day, has 75K on odo, for 20K. the owner said the car is perfect (interior and exterior wise), it's a fully loaded model except for the Adaptive Cruise control(it's kinda useless for me). What I'm afraid is Audi's repair cost. as it has 75K already things will just keep coming and everybody probably knows that ANY German made car parts will cost you an arm and leg and your blood and your sperm and your house and your wife ... ooops.
I dunno, maybe I should start a new thread for it.

Around that mileage is when their timing chains go. I would make sure that has been done

as for your question, the Timing belt for the Audi is pretty durable, some people online said they replace theirs at 150K and it's still good as new. of course that's really pushing it even they said they did. and from my research it seems that it's a f-king nightmare to work on ANY Audi, especially the ones with FSI engines.

Diesel is coming to most if not all countries, Mazda has not confirmed which models..
The CX-5, frankly, I just do not know, one of the existing CX must go, said to be the 7.
I like any Mazda , but SUV's leave me a little cold, glorified pick up trucks for, short people..
BTW: Looks like Mazda IS building a new plant in Guanajuato, Mexico.

for next gen CX-7 (not far IMHO, the current was launched in 2006) maybe they will axe CX-9 and grow up the size of 7.

Maybe, but the CX-9 have been very popular, here, I am starting to see more CX-9's than CX-7's., but probably the numbers favour the 7.
Mazda Australia are releasing a FWD version of the CX-9 here in a few months, which is $4500.00 cheaper than the AWD.
But then again, you guys don't get the 9...I think.
Mazda may juggle the model range, keep all 3 models as it is.
Europe gets the CX-5 and 7
OZ and USA and others gets the 5 and 9??
But then again possibly Mazda will axe the CX-9, as I don't think they will have access to the 'Ford' 3.7 V6 for too many more years???
Really it is only a name, we know of the new 5, but the 7 could become 9 or visa versa in some markets.

what I'm thinking is they "might" use Sky-D as an alternative for bigger cars like the CX-9. People here prefer "big" hp because of the "bigger is better" logic That's so deep in America's society. but on the other hand they're so stuck in 50/60s that they still thought Diesel is ONLY for dirty trucks and they're slow. Wait until they try the Sky-D which has 300+ ft lbs of torque. that might change their mind.

They might not axe the CX-9 IMO, cuz I starting to see more CX-9 than the Cx-7. but like you said Mazda not gonna have access to Ford's 3.7 for too long.

SHOW the bloody car inside and out in commercials, not just 4 wheels zooming around to groovy music and a voice over guy who SAYS NOTHING..
And these marketers get paid millions of dollars for BS ads!!!...
Like Doner, MNAO previous Ad agency (which is almost bankrupt today since they lost Mazda's contract) claimed they were SO successful with "their" Zoom ZOOM campaign, BLOODY LYING BASTARDS, the Zoom ZOOM campaign came originally from a Mazda New Zealand and Mazda Australia collaboration....and Doner has the cheek to claim credit.!!..and $131million.

Yes, and Mazda in the US and here have to ADVERTISE and SHOW the people WHY the SKY-D is so good, in others words actually take up 10 seconds of a 30 second add and explain the new generation diesels are clean, fuss free, quiet, powerful and high MPG...if they don't then "Joe Public" will think the 50/60's.... and going by the past **** poor promos MNAO do, it will fail.
My prediction is that north america will get the diesel, but no manual.

Screw gas mileage
Here it has always been slightly in favor of the 7's, but lately there have been a lot more, due to Mazda putting out the non-turbo 4cyl that has some solid mileage numbers...hell I have one, and I think it's a much better alternative to something like a CR-V, Highlander, Tuscon, etc.

A good advertising campaign touting a 40MPG affordable SUV could draw in buyers. 40 is the new 30, so it has to come close to those numbers. "Build it and they will come" won't do **** for sales, beyond a niche of diesel lovers and forum readers.
My prediction is that north america will get the diesel, but no manual.

One of my friend was stupid enough to tell me that AT beat any MT in shifting speed, then he points out to his 1995 pos Maxima ... I was like yep, whatever, I can't beat your stupidity so why bother ?

Really a beautiful car from Mazda, and what is most important that it differs from other sister models in that category. Not to mention Audi and others which have really no difference to the exterior and interior, all they do is re-size them and there you go, a brand new model.
It is stupid that they don't offer MT in America, at least as an option when you order the car. DSG and other transmissions are really faster than manual ones, but the standard AT is just behind any MT in my opinion. I would always choose MT, no matter if it's slower than the DSG for example. It's the fun when you drive, and that is important to all of us here

I heard some things about it, but don't want to comment it much further.
For example, you pass the driver's license test, take your family car and show your instructor that you know to drive it, and you pass. Don't take me literally, and I know that one city in US has population like my whole country, and that it is hard to track it all down.
Anyways, at least you have more cheaper prices on new cars than we have hear (ex. VW Passat), and the gas is still cheaper
