CX-5 Test Drive Impressions
#26
I helped my girlfriend purchase one today after test driving on Saturday.
Metropolitan Gray, Grand touring with the tech package.
It's a huge upgrade from her 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback and she ended up paying about the same per month due to how aggressively these things are priced.
Mazda has done an amazing job with the new interior trim assuming you get leather. The cloth seats on the base models felt like the same material from her 2010, which I just did not care for. The upper dash and doors are now all soft touch materials leaving the only hard plastic on the lower portions. The doors are inset with leather if the vehicle is equipped with it. The new nav system is 200 times better than the one on her 3.
It doesn't have as much zip as the 3 did, but it's much more comfortable and handles better than most, if not every, CUV I've driven at that size. She finally got what she wanted too, a car that is higher off the ground, safe and gets good gas mileage(we averaged 37 on the way home w/the AC on), which I told her was an iron triangle. Mazda has proved me wrong.
Now.. the just need to bring back the Mazdaspeed 6 with that new body style.. ermergerd that'd be sweet!
