Dodge Caliber SRT4
Well the SRT folks have done it again and gave dodge's lackluster caliber some real horse power. I can't say i am impressed with the result, but i must give the SRT guys credit, they know how to put ***** on a car. Apparently this car is $60 more than a Mazdaspeed 3 and it is its only real competitor right now, but i would not call it a better car by any stretch of the
imagination.
One thing that amused me was its LACK of a LSD. This in a 28X HP front wheel drive car should be real fun.
http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...iber-srt4.html
"Chrysler uses a brake-based system of the type also employed by BMW and Mercedes, among others. The function is simple: When the system sensors detect traction loss on one of the drive wheels, it applies the brake on that wheel to send power to the opposite side. The SRT engineers insist it’s more effective than the mechanical limited-slip differentials they sampled while the SRT4 was in gestation."
but still it is an interesting car.

I can't decide which makes me throw up more, the Startech Starster (http://www.autoblog.com/photos/startech-starster/) or this.
Strangely, they're both Chrysler Dodge-based vehicles.

I m still jealous of all the EZ power you will be able to make.
Mopar will probably come out with a kit for the car that will enable it to make eleventy billion horse power, and for a reasonable price no less.

The Dodge Caliber SRT4 is one f*cking ugly vehicle. I puke looking at it.
There was no need to do anything special with that thing and would have made more sense to have left it alone and upgraded something else.

You are entitled to your opinion, just like I'm to mine. I don't "hate" on all cars, but the Dodge Caliber SRT4 just looks sinfully ugly to me. The exterior design team of that car should be smacked around.

Hahahah.... I got more mods coming and my vehicle is getting faster and faster as time goes by. But at the very least, the women like looking and riding in my car.

P.S. They should have done an SRT-16 Crossfire, now that would have been HOT!

"The engine feels strong, with that familiar turbo-motor swell of power, but it doesn't feel that much stronger than the Mazdaspeed 3's mill, which turns out a sick 280 lb-ft of torque. But we believe Dodge when it says that the SRT-4 will get to 60 mph in "the low 6-second range." The front-drive six-speed Mazda will do the deed in 6.1 seconds. The new Subaru WRX, with a relatively paltry 224 horsepower and a five-speed will get to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. This leads us to the issue more important than peak horsepower numbers."
"Dodge Boys Drive Bad Toys
The 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 will clearly not be to everyone's taste. Although it's enormously powerful, it's heavy at 3,189 pounds and Dodge admits it isn't any faster than the lighter and less powerful Neon SRT-4 of several years ago. It's also unusual-looking, and by unusual we mean fugly.
But is does pack the most power you buy for your dollar. And that's got to count for something."
That is quoted from edmunds http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpconta...2/pageNumber=1
So They made it bigger and uglier then the previous model without becoming any faster. Dodge for the win!!!111!!

It'll still sell by the boatload, and all the drivers will certainly have the fastest car on the planet.* For my money, I'd rather have a Speed 3 - the power is so close as to be negligible and, well...just look at it.
*Car not actually fastest car on the planet, this is simply a mindset perpetuated by the young/immature owner base.

But you still must give the SRT guys credit, they take whatever dodge gives them and make it MUCH faster.

Don't mind Ike. He's just sensitive because the Caliber shares its platform with the new Lancer.
I don't care if they'll eventually jam 4000 horsepower through it, it's still coming from the factory with more than FWD can reasonably handle. That's the real problem I have with the MS3, Cobalt SS, and old SRT-4 as well... WRONG WHEEL DRIVE. They'll never be as fast or handle as well as a comparable RWD or AWD car.
