yah, i think you should be at 90mph. what ever highest speed you can be in 4th gear is where you should be at. also may want tap the brake then gas it a little then pull ebrake.

I was going to ask about speed, in your pictures it looks like you are doing 150-170 mph, which is much faster than I am going. I am also curious if you have changed the suspension at all to help you drift.

Hey Alfy, tried drifting last night in the game, it took some practice, but I think i got it down. Took some screens with my cell phone, sorry if there low quality or blurry. By the way did you take your screen caps with a camera or the new in game photo function? If you did it in thegame , how do you activate the in game photo function?

Anyway drifting on the flat curves is alot easier then drifting on banked curves for me IMO, for those banked curves, inorder to execute a proper drift I had to be doing anywhere in the range of 100-110 mph.

Here are the screens: 1st run, Corvette Z-06 at the High Speed Ring

Actually recovered it just in the nick of time!

Pics continued from the High Speed Ring

London track

Took out the RX-7 , had to crank the HP way up to get that back end to swing!

I tried your method of hand brake, then nailing the gas then modulating the gas to keep the tail out and to keep the drift going! Its a tried and true method....I sometimes brake then let the back end swing out or sometimes i just let off the gas , let the tail come out and counter steer like crazy . The controller is tuff to use, I think I might do better if I had a game wheel.

I tried the Ferrari California , but it was pretty tuff to drift, mid engine cars tails come way out.... still trying to master the technique though. On that last section on the High speed ring, do you find it better to approach that section going fast , or enter it at a decent rate of speed of 70-80 mph? I can't drift that section for the life of me, what is your technique for that section Alfy?

Nice pics Daily. looks like you found the feel

to answer your 1st question, i used a digi camera. is there a in game photo option? if so man that would be cool. also i use the Freeze option with the Hdtv so i can pause the screen, since GT5P doent have a option of pausing that i know of . Hopefully they will add that feature.

as for the last section of Highspeed (normal route) i tend to haul ***, Brake pedal to put weight to the front before turnning then pull ebrake to put me into a turning angle so i can start my counter steering. but one thing is, with wheel i start way earlly. but since i let my bro borrow it, with the controller i start late . (still on the starting side of the turn) i come high ont he bank to the mid part of the bank then towards the end i start to move toward the outside of the road. btw i start speeds at 90-100

btw really nice pics. next one you should try is Fuji Reverse. i hate the 1st turn because its a 2nd gear turn lol. but when you try it, you know hwat ill mean.

lol i must nto be a true rotary fan. i havent bought the FD yet lol. now if it was an FC, that thing would of been snatched a long time ago lol.

Thanks, your pics rock! Didn't think of using my digital camera, duh!

Yeah it took some practice , but i pretty much got the feel of it,although still trying to master drifting on banked turns and mid engine cars, sometimes i can nail it, then sometimes i just nail the guard rail! LOL!

The RX-7 is sweet, you have to try it and kick the HP way up! I am going to try the RX-8 for kicks. I am also going to try your advice on that last section, it bites me every time.

Jrichter- Thanks man, I went in deep on the long hand sweeper then up , then let her slide, was doing about 120mph , I was stoked that i pulled it off, thought I wasn't going to pull it off when I got to the bottom of the track though!LOL!

Yeah you have to try it, drifting is pretty sweet to do in GT, challenging but rewarding and amazing to look at if you pull off the drift correctly.

Did some research ,the PS3 does have a in game photo option, but it all depends if the game has that function enbeded in its software, example Wipeout HD. Hopefully with the next update , GT5 may have this function as well.

quick question on the FD. when you switch gears due to hitting the rev limit on the current gear, does the power drop off? that is one thing i hate about the 8.

oh btw for kicks on the bank , that Jrich likes. you see how your like completly side ways? next time dont save it, let the **** keep going and make your car do a 360 and start doing down shifts while in the 360 or 720's lol and save it that way. watching the replys is freaking sweet lol. that is what i do every time i do Highspeed on normal route. it leaves a big smile on my face, all you hear is Blow offs going off lol (pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew).

Cool I will try that, sounds like fun!

As far as the Rx-7 ,it does it a little bit, I had to adjust my gearing but I can't recall what number i chose. But in stock form the RX-7 doesn't drift very well....

Do you lighten your vehicles before you drift? And have you drift any mid -engine cars yet? Try the Ferrari California, I can almost drift her , but not very well. I am sure you will master that car in no time.

So far the Corvette seems the easiest to me, it already a light car with gobs of power , tonight i am going to try some other cars.

yah i need to play with the gears on the 8. i started to, but the car just feels so slow, along with all the non tuner japanese cars (such as starting off and getting to the turn) that i just go back to either Califorinia, F430, Ford Gt, 599 and S2k.

as for weight, i have the car at 0. i might start putting more weight , but i tend to forget to do so.

i tihnk next car ill get is Corvette and the tuned viper. but since i dont race at all lol, i am broke :P. guess i should start racing again (zzzzz).

as for awd , i had the GTR, STI and Evo but i sold them. both are very boring cars for drifting . when PD ever adds Snow tracks and dirt, it should be fun again (castrol Celica FTW).

Ok, i was wondering about the weight issue. Then again there aren't to many cars in the game that are porkers so making them lighter shouldn't be a real concern.

Definitely check out the Vette, I am going to try my tuned Vette tonight. I figured as much with the AWD cars that they would be dull drifting, like you mentioned, if they ever included dirt or snow tracks like GT4, then those cars would rock!

Tried the RX-8 last night, what a hard car to drift, truly the 50/50 weight difference is the enemy when it comes to drifting this car. So in order to get her to slide I had to crank the HP to 442HP and crank the gearing to 4.9 and put the turning radius to 50. Keeping the RX-8 at full tilt is the only way your going to get her to slide , as the power deliverery falls off very rapidly. Adjusting the gearing made a world of difference, but it was a mere band-aid to the situation at hand.

Tried the Fuji track, Gawd that first turns sucks, I am clueless on how I was suppose to drift into that turn with the RX-8 , that first turn is such a tight and narrow turn , plus its a low speed turn , you would almost have to throw yourself into a drift way up the track and kind of allow yourself to drift into that narrow pass. Still trying to figure that one out......

Heres the photos, sorry if a little blurry , but these are photos after that near impossible first turn.

London track was a good track for the RX-8 , as your already have speed before you enter the drift zones, all you have to do is make her slide.

Tried the LM GT Racecar, what a monster , sliding on this track was almost second nature to this beast, hugged the inside line as much as possible.

Using the LM GT was tuff on the High Speed Ring, took me a minute to get her to slide correctly. The hand brake method wasn't the skill of choice for this car, as it would cause the rear to violently swing the tail out from under you and put you into a spin. I used the brake method or throttle lift and quickly getting back on to keep that tail under control.

In order to get on the drift demo , as i see other users replays , do you have to drift a perfect score, or be under a certain number say like 20 and below in the rankings?

nice pics. yah the lm ford gt is 2nd favorite. the car is jsut so freaking sweet . its funny though, i think for racing it feels like a boat, but for drifting i just love it.

but as for recorded reply wise, you have to be ranked 1-10. i use to be at least top 5 on all the tracks (but now i am just on london and highspeed reverse), but they wiped them clean like 3 weeks ago.

so i just mess around on the tracks, due to controller vs wheel. its funny though, all you see is japanese players (even though i am half) in top 10 and only 2 american flag players me and some one else in the top 5 out of 10. its got to the tick off the full japanese ppl under us lol

also if you save reply manualy then you exit out of the game to the main menu. go to replays thru the menu screen and watch your replays. your onling tag will display. even though you didnt finish the track, which is pretty cool.

Tonight i am going to download the demo again, since i have it still in my dl history list. reason is the game doesnt allow me to race with what ever tires i want. and you can get some cool shots by using the car ahead of your car. so what i would do is in replay i would select the car ahead of me, swithc the views where it only shows the back camera which will show me my car . not sure if that makes sense. I guess best example is, if me and you have a private room, your car will the be the camera man car. and i just follow you around , so in the replay its act as if your the camera guy filming my every move.

Thats a good idea , yeah I was always wondering how you got those front shots like that...very cool. I am going to check out your demo too, that is to funny that there are two American drifters in the top 10 of Japanese drifters, I am sure it bugs them a little LOL!

My best ranking was 14th with the RX-8, maybe after alot of practice, there will be a third American drifter in that top 10 list!

Yah the other american guy sent me a message 2 weeks go asking how come before i dont feint drift alot any more. i guess he seen the videos before the server wipe. i told him soon i will, once i get my freaking wheel back. he was shocked that i was using a controller.

but yah when you watch the videos , any person doing only feints are using wheel. as you can see its very hard drifiting oppposite direction before drifting the correct direction on the straight away. been practing lately with controller, but dont have it down just yet. very close but not good enough for me.

Ok cool, Yeah F1 Championship racing is a great game, the sense of speed is unreal in that game. I will try to pick that one up this weekend.

Sony was hosting a tournament last year at the St.Pete ALMS race , they were using this game in time trial mode to see who got the best time, i forget which track but I lost my first place spot to a 9 year old kid!LOL! He beat me by a hundreds of sec! He won a copy of F1, a gift certificate , T-shirt and some other goodies, I got that ****- poor ATV off-roading demo and a T-shirt for 2nd place! LOL!

I've started to get the hang of it. I am having some problems with driving lines, and maintaining the drift through the turn, I will get some slide, then straighten out, power up and get another slide going.
