Ducati or turbo?
So i have come up with an opportunity to purchase a 2002 ducati monster 620 recently, it has a bunch of tastefully done upgrades already, and the guy selling it seems pretty legit. I've been riding since last january, but i sold it during the summer to facilitate a move, now im itching to get back onto 2 wheels again
OR
i can buy a turbo kit have it installed, dynoed and tuned
all for about the same price
or i can just save my money
im having a hard time deciding

Seeing as it's just coming up on winter, buying a bike sucks in the cold months. All you can do it stare it in the garage and make revving noises as you sit on it and pretend to drag a knee. Or you can go out and freeze your fingers off (I've done it)
If you do decide on the turbo route, make sure you have PLENTY left over for unexpected parts. The $5 t-clamps and random hoses add up quick

I dunno living in LA i think you should be able to ride all year round. Here in Chicago that may be the case. its 34 now and all i can do is stare at it. But my vote is for the bike. i think it should go for much less than a full turbo with installation tuning etc.

well i guess but i bet there still are certain days (60's and up) where you can take the bike out. I dunno I have been riding for a few years now and if the weather is right theres nothing better on wheels. Its just fun.

If you have the bug to ride, get the duck. Installing a turbo won't satisfy your riding cravings. Clearly you will just be hurting yourself, after you get the turbo, and have one of those perfect riding days so common in LA, you will kick yourself repeatedly.
My advice is buy the duck now(if you really want a 620) and save for the turbo for later. More toys now, you can get your rapid acceleration fix on the bike, and the bike gets better gas mileage.
PS Have you looked into a Speed Triple. It doesn't have the Ducati name, but for the money and that type of bike, the Triple will glue a smile onto your face.

2 wheels all the way. save back up to get a turbo in a few months. nothing beats the thrill of riding on 2 wheels.. even as much as I love my 8... if I had to choose... 2 wheels ftw!

Well i would say get the turbo, cause you can only drive the bike for 1/2 to 3/4 of the year. I have had my share of bikes, and i would rather have a turbo kit. Just knowing that you put it in yourself, paid for it, and then are using it reliably, would be a huge feeling of satisfaction, and while on nice days you want to go cruise on your bike, you can still cruise in your turbo'ed car, and this way you arent limited to only picking up one woman, haha

A stupid SOB ran a red light in a SUV, 2 of my friends crash right into him, one of my friends 's helmet crack open like and egg, he needed 11 reconstructive surgery's just in he's face, and he was not going fast at all 60 or 70 mph.

I' ve been working in the ER for 10 years, that is one of the reasons I sold my Kawi. We have some ER Doc' s that ride hogs, even some the OR staff ride. I'm thinking about getting another Kawi ZZR600.
A bike may not be a bad idea, especially with oil nearing $100 a barrel. I remember reading, a few years and when Goldman Sachs predicted oil hitting $5 a gallon; it looks like it may come to pass. Then again you live in LA, I’m not sure how safe you would be a bike. Or you could invest is something…what to do, what to do. You only live once

Have you maxed out your savings options--401(k) if you have one and $4k for your 2007 IRA? Plus in January you can put another $4k into your '08 IRA. If you're maxing these out, then toys can be considered. If not, save now, play later.

I used to work in the er as well......I own an 07 600rr......but then again I dont live in california, I live in a city of about 200000 people, but there are always stupid drivers out there. And no matter what you do to your car it will never be as fast or as exciting as a bike. But, I am saving for a supercharger for my rx8 as well......I guess owning a bike doesn't really help with the " want to mod" disease. tough call
