go check out the genesis coupe forums, they're having problems with getting it to evo like performance because it is in not an evo engine, just certain parts of it is. The limit they are finding for the bottom end is about 300-350whp, which of course the evo can easily handle.

The genesis is obviously a sports car. It was designed as a RWD coupe from the beginning. The MS3 is a modified grocery getter fail wheel drive sedan. I don't think I need to know anything other than this: 300bhp RWD, or 270bhp FWD. Wow, what a difficult choice!!! fail wheel drive is fine for a daily driver, or for high school kids that think thjey have a sports car, but for a serious performer, it's still pretty much a joke.

Can we retire the word "fail" please? We get the joke "fail wheel drive" instead of front wheel drive, colorful. I also find people who argue for pointing out the fwd/rwd/awd of a vehicle usually spout out opinions instead of facts. Having a liking for rwd cars is perfectly natural, i myself included, but to tag the MS3 which without a doubt is a fantastic car is ignorant and "fail."

I am not saying it's not a great car. I am saying it's still a joke though as a performance car. Do you know how annoying it feels to accelerate out of a corner with front wheel drive? It feels absolutely horrid compared to rear wheel drive. asking the front tires to turn, and accelerate with all the torque available is complete idiocy for a performance car. FWD was originally used to cut cost and aid in safety for people that don't understand vehicle dynamics. This is not ideal for a performance car. The MS3 is a grocery getter at heart. the genesis is a sports car at heart. The only reason to make a car RWD is for performance. It is more expensive and more dangerous, and that's exactly why you don't find it on most cars. Unless you intentionally plan to drive in a manner which you know is illegal or go to tracks, then front wheel drive is the way to go. The fact that the genesis is RWD shows how much of a sports car, **** establishment, rock and role soul it has.

I couldn't agree with you more. Just a word of advice though. If you get it for your wife (i did), don't tell her its fast (my mistake again). You'll never beat her anywhere again (from experience, she's crazy with this car). Its all good though, beats driving a minivan or SUV when I need to use her car.

I think Hyundai needs to rethink their 2.0T platform, if they are topping out at 350hp. The 3.8 coupe seems to be lacking when you look at its competition (ignoring the MS3). Especially since it has the monster known as the 370z in its same class....

Mazda never intended to make the MS3 a sports car, but a pocket rocket like your GTi's, Civic Si's, Mini Cooper's.. etc.
And just like those pocket rockets, you will always have a population that misinterprets the MS3 for what it is, and claim something that it isn't meant for.
MS3 is probably the best handling FWD car (as I have never test drove/driven a Integra Type R) ever, and while it's a great technological achievement, it unfortunately, still can't fight physics.
Like both cars for what they are, but do not compare the cars for what you are looking for as they do not really share a common denominator.

Oh yes the old "you have no first hand experience so you have no validity" approach. I have never been to the sun but I can bet you it would burn. I have never driven an MS3, but i can bet that the front wheel drive, especially with a motor so torquey, is pure ****.
Your comment is actually weird because you suggest I have no validity based on lack of first hand experience, yet you have no first hand experience dealing with me, so you know nothing about my experience with front wheel drive cars, or with the MS3 for that matter.

I have driven both modded and unmodded 1st gen MS3's and I can tell you they are a blast both in a strait line, and in corners (for a FWD). Since we are all putting words in other people’s mouths today, Rengen I think your point is that you have to qualify that statement (for a FWD). It will not compare to an 8 when it comes to handling, on the other hand they will smoke an 8 in a strait line. Apples to Oranges I say. The MS6 is a nice blend of the two, of coarse it is slower that the 3 in a strait line and not as good as the 8 in corners.
