Edmunds.com G35C gas mileage
According to Edmunds, com long term test of the Infinity G35C, it appears the fuel mileage is no better than the RX-8
Current Odometer: 2,245
Best Fuel Economy: 16.3 mpg
Worst Fuel Economy: 13.7 mpg
Average Fuel Economy (over the life of the vehicle): 15.8 mpg
Body Repair Costs: None
Maintenance Costs: None
Problems: None
Now I realize that it's a potent V6, but performance-wise it is the the car most comparable to the RX-8. While we would like to get more mpg from our '8's, it appears the situation is the same for G35Cs. The big difference is that the RX-8 sounds and feels better as it gulps the gas.

I have a G35 Sedan with the six speed and I have been pleasantly surprised that in the first 1000 miles I have averaged 21.8mpg (breakin is until 1200 miles). During breakin on the RX-8 I got 15mpg, and averaged 17.1 over 3500 miles. I think that having a 6MT over the 5AT for the Infiniti G35 makes a big difference.

That's pretty good mileage, but you are in brake-in yet which means you are not 'getting on it'. Most likely it will stay the same or perhaps a bit better. I was just trying to let everyone know that the RX-8 while not too good on gas is not too far off from the G35C (at least what Edmunds reported) and the performance of both cars is similar. In the G35C case it is 6 cylinders to feed, in the RX-8 it is the Rotary's thirst for fuel.

I finish breakin tomorrow, so I will be hitting 6900rpm regularly soon (not quite the same as 9500rpm). I will come back with a review of my G35 in a week or so, after I have driven it properly. One good thing - I get over 350 miles per tank, so only one fill up per week.

This is a regular G35 right? not the C model? How are ya liking it? A buddy of mine got one too and he seems to be enjoying it quite a bit.

Well I am now 800 miles post break-in (2000 miles total) on my G35 Sedan. Still getting about 21mpg with each tank even though I am now hitting the 6500rpm redline as often as possible in 1st and 2nd (and sometimes 3rd).
Look out for a huge RX-8 vs G35 Sedan comparison from me later this week (not sure if I should put it in General Auto or Lounge or RX-8 discussion)...
