f-them mazda IS re-thinking the automobile. PLUS they are donating a million bucks to children's literacy program. Universal is also using the Lorax to promote other good ideas such as HPs recycling push , the Nature conservancy "plant a billion trees" campaign, 7th Generations campaign etc etc
they are using the Lorax to promote environmental concerns! and also to promote companies that are showing their concern and putting their money where the ad campaigns are- actually doing things that will help the environment instead of just talking about it.
note what it says in the bit about teh Nature Conservancy's "The Lorax Speaks" campaign
because they are all trying to actually help!

The movement was started by a generous donation from Universal Pictures, as well as support from the Audrey S. Geisel Dr. Seuss Foundation

Charlie...
Just got an email back about that "Cheetah image" you wanted from MA's CX-5 YT Vid.
Was all done on a paint box with super imposing by their Ad agency, they won't supply a suitable image of size or quality...
In fact they won't supply any image.
Sorry mate.

350 CX-5s sold in February when most dealers did not have them until the last day or two and with limited advertizing.
My prediction is they will be moving as many as 10000 a month by June if not sooner.
Paul.

Briefly checked out a CX-5 yesterday (and a 2012 MX-5 special edition) looks great, well designed interior. Salesman said he has been getting pestered for a month by people wanting to buy one and insisting he had them in stock when he didn't yet. And this was a tiny dealer stuck to the side of a Volvo and Honda dealership, with no Mazdas on display roadside. Only next to the building.
He did complain a bit about the power and mileage. Said several people getting turned away due to one or the other. "10 more hp or 3 more mpg and I wouldn't be able to keep them in stock" He loves SkyActive though. Said it's bringing in customers like never before.

I'm excited about the extra mileage the diesel will provide though.

The tone was more like he was complaining about the few lost sales to buyers that were expecting 35mpg and the drop to 32 pissed them off enough to look elsewhere.
I entirely agree with you Paul.
I spent quite a bit of time talking with him on various topics, including the whole move/house-hunt, and he just might be the first salesman that knows what he is selling. He could actually uphold his end of the discussion about the technical details of skyactive, rotaries, the design of newer models, etc... I'm inclined to believe him when he says that he has been a salesman there for 8 years and. Has no intention of moving.
I know in general they are out to make as much cash from me as they can, but knowing I will probably be a repeat buyer should keep the money grab attempts to a minimum. They will make acceptable money off me if the initial impressions are accurate and they play fair.

If Mazda is highlighting and marketing Skyactiv the way they appear to be so far, they're setting themselves up for unhappiness all around when people do not achieve fuel economy that's far better than competitors.
Just my 2 cents (now worth a 1/2 cent thanks to Ben Bernanke).

The cx5 is meant to be diesel, there's no reason to buy a gasoline one!
I'm sure the rest of the world will barely consider the gasoline option given fuel prices and useless specs compared to the diesel variants.
Anyway, VW revamped the tiguan in a pretty nice way. Spec wise there's no comparison... Mazda wins almost everywhere though.
