Bummed, but bring on OU!
^ Maybe he didn't know how to drive . If your wagon is stock, it was either that, or it wasn't an SS.
It'll be closer than most Z owners would like from a roll.

Either they have a lot of idiots on that board, or that particular thread attracted a bunch of them.

And yes, the Cobalt SS is going to be closer to a Z froma roll than any of those guys would like to admit. Mod for mod the SS probably had the advantage.

350Z forums anger me... Every time I read one there is such bullshit and circle jerking. Sadly Evo forums aren't that far off. Thank god there are only a dozen or so people like that here.

One of those guys claims he only lost to a GTO by a fender length or 2. Yeah, sure he did. That's normal acceleration from a stoplight for a GTO. No way he was racing.

From Road & Tracks Road Test Summary Sheet:
Nissan 350z (35th Anniversary Edition): 300bhp, 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, Quarter mile in 14.1 @101mph.
Cobalt SS Supercharged: 205bhp, 0-60 in 6.2, Quarter mile 14.8 @ 96.8.
Pontiac GTO: 400bhp, 0-60 5.0 seconds, Quarter Mile 13.5 @ 107.1
I know magazine times usually differ from reality due to test conditions, but even with a margin the Z clearly has the edge on the SS, but a GTO could easily beat it in a drag.
And by the way, it's good to be back. Missed ya.... especially my sweetheart Ike.

I assume you mean the SS Supercharged. It gets confusing to me personally because my Gf has an SS, and that's actually a model below. Even that car has got some pep to it for being n/a, but it's of course nothing special. I've never driven an SS S/C, but lets just say without making a racing story that a 350Z from a highway roll can give an STI a royal fit, and make you use every last bit of HP you got if you don't wanna lose. This is more driver vs driver here, then car vs car, which is something people always seem to forget. I've been challenged by SS Supercharged in my STI, but I ignored them all the time. Maybe I should given them a chance just to see how fast they are, going by the quote above. HEHE NAH. Sorry I have to disagree somewhat, unless the 350z driver is a chicken crap, or can't drive, or the S/C cobolt is modded.
On a side note for me, the good news to my downgrade is, that nowadays, no one has yet to even bother me in my MS6, because the car is so far under the radar. It's actually kind of nice, but I'm already eyeing up that STI limited, which is NOT good. I need to smack myself, and not do something foolish in 2008. It's too soon.

for example: my '98 Volvo C70 when stock had 0-60 in 6.1 (auto) and 1/4 mile in 14.9 @ 98-99mph(don't remember exactly), but would easily surpass the 350Z from a roll situation (280hp version). I chipped it and did full exhaust, and it was just funny after that (took it to the track once and it trapped almost 106, which seemed too high, but the T-5 Volvos always trapped high for their power). The SS suffers from traction problems, being fwd. These problems don't exist once moving. Trap speeds indicate that the Z will still come out on top, but depending on the starting speed, it may be playing catch up for a few seconds. It won't be a murder at least.
