Not only do I not have a MT, I don't even own an RX-8. I just wandered in here off the streets for the free food and sarcasm.

Yes the EVO X is a hot looking car, so much better than the current one. Combined with the performance and a DSG option it could be a monster seller.

And the Rx-8 meanwhile has a slightly different new blue color coming I hear...

This should make all the ricers who watched the original Fast and the Furious really wonder if you are "double clutching".

That pansy who buys a DSG EVO, is also gonna smoke a lot of manual Evo owners right out of the water, due to no real skill involved in going fast. I personally wouldn't mind a DSG STI as a daily, but as a daily driver putting lots of miles, and expecting many years of reliability, I wouldn't trust any EVO as far as I could throw it long term. From a fun/sports car standpoint, I can see how a DSG EVO would not suit well with diehard enthusiasts. I wouldn't get a DSG unless it was more of a commuter car then a fun car.

Coming from heavy traffic, and lots of driving (25k+ miles per year), not only would it be very convenient, but it would also be nice to have a car that you just gas and go, and could take out most manual drivers with no skill necessary. That right there will have manual EVO owner's panties in a bunch. I'd always have to have a manual fun/sports car though. I couldn't imagine owning an auto or dsg, if I was my only car. I'd be all over an STI DSG though as a daily. That would be really nice.

Wow, you learn something new everyday.

The same test in the States is less stringent.
What cars are you shopping for? How do you get around? Do you just stand on the side of the road and let the first chick that drives by get all excited and then stop to drive you around town?

Yeah... gotta agree. My Familia has one and it sucks royally. I have probably used it 3 or 4 times in about 3 years of ownership.

I'm in asia btw.. How da hell do u people drive with your left hand controlling the wheel? You think this would make a difference in our driving styles? That said, I suck at left handers..
Drive left handed? You're supposed to keep both hands on the wheel at all times... only removing one hand briefly to shift and then returning it to the wheel.

Now that's for spirited driving, tracking and racing... just cruising around... one-handed, left or right... it doesn't matter.

On the other hand... how the hell do you shift left-handed?! My first car here was a stick and getting used to shifting with my left-hand was a bitch. Even after I was used to it, it always felt odd and I never could shift as smoothly as I could right-handed.

Odd... I found the exact opposite going from the US to Japan.

and let's not get into the left-side of the road Vs right-side of the road thing... especially since the Japanese are all confused anyway... drive on the left, but walk on the right.. or is it left... or maybe the middle... and don't worry about looking before crossing the street...

And I think if I were going to get a stick I can't imagine having my first one being an Evo. My friend has the VIII and the clutch on that thing weighs 97lbs.
I will teach you Saturn....come up to the meet!!

I'd buy the Evo X with a DSG and I'll tell you why. My commute to work involves A LOT of stop and go traffic and working the clutch gets old real fast. However, once I'm free of the stop and go, I love to open up the 8 and fly down the turnpike as fast as traffic (and the state PD) will let me. So if I could have a car that would let me have the convenience of a slushbox in heavy stop and go, and the "choose your own adventure" of a stick, I'd take one in a heartbeat.

Now if my daily drive was clear sailing, then I'd take a manual. Depending on how the whole recall thing goes, if I keep the 8, I will probably buy an automatic for my commute and use the 8 on the weekends and take up autocross.

Savy?

haha, I wish it worked like that. I don't really need a car since I live downtown Toronto. If I need to go out of town I borrow one of my buddies cars, or my parents, or rent. I'm looking for a CPO M3

Steniner owns an Evo, he came from an SRT-4. StopNturnFreak owns an Evo and I believe his wife owns an RX-8. There's another Evo owner I'm forgetting... There are a few members that traded their RX-8 in for an Evo but I don't see them around here much anymore.

Ike, since you've had the WRX and now the Evo, how do they compare reliability-wise? I realize the WRX is not the same as the STi, but I'm still curious.

And sti_eric (who I haven't seen in awhile) has an STi (go figure) and his wife has an RX-8 I believe.

I've never had to do anything other than an oilchange on either... Though I've only owned the Evo for 10k miles.
